Taylor Hall and Ekholm

Created by: kscoop
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 17, 2021
Published: Feb. 17, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not sure the trade values here. Hall hasn't been very good and if Buffalo is out of it seems like a pretty good return.

Ekholm trade similar to the trade the sent Muzzin to Toronto.

This is going all in.

Nashville will want more, it's a late 1st and they won't take Moore for free. Hall is LW, not RW.

Debrusk is on trial as Bergeron's RW. The late 1st comment is silly as a contender will trade for Ekholm, therefore any first Nashville gets for him will be a late first.

It's late 1st = you need to add more than just Bjork.

The Leafs traded Sean Durzi + Grundstrom + 1st

Bjork better than both these players.

and ekholm is leaps and bounds better than Muzzin . Need to up your value bc what Lebrun said....and people have selective hearing is that Ekholm is a guy teams HOPE will be on the market, and Lebrun THINKS there is a chance that Preds listen to offers. there is no indication that he is for sale.

Ekholm isnt actively being shopped, so if you want him, you need to make it worth it for the preds t listen

Both players were prospects at that time. Grundstrom, Bjork are probably close but Durzi is a good prospect. Bruins also need to give something to get rid of Moore. A B prospect (like Steen)+Bjork+1st pick but I wouldn't be surprised if NSH get better offers. They haven't decided to move him yet anyways so we'll see.

Nashville doesn't really have a spot for Bjork though... he isn't really a top 6 and Nashville is already jammed in the bottom 6. So I see this as a 1st + Capdump + player we don't need for one of our best trade chips. We can do better then that.

EVERYONE Declines:
Sabres want more value in return
Nashville wants more value in return
Bruins hate both trades on value and player needs / wants

I love the idea of Ekholm as the Bruins LD1. But if you trade for him this year, it means you’re losing Grzelcyk in the Expansion Draft or losing the assets needed to make a side deal with Seattle to protect Grzelcyk. The only way I trade for Ekholm this year is straight up for Grzelcyk. Otherwise I wait until the off-season. You may even be able to get him cheaper from Seattle if he’s exposed by Nashville and absolutely drafted. As an impending UFA after 2021-22, Seattle might be more interested in dealing him for long-term help or futures.

i like your idea of Ekholm for Grzelcyk straight up but with Ekholm generally being considered the better player Boston would have to add on.
