This is tough. No one has ever really done this before. Three firsts?

Sabres aren't gonna give up future assets to trade Skinner just because he's getting really unlucky.

Personally I wouldn't touch his contract for just about anything, unless it was something stupid that Buffalo would never do. I think your best bet is hoping he can bounce back or maybe trading him with retained salary.

Comparing the Marleau cap dump trade, which only cleared $6m for one year. I'd say to get rid of Skinner you're looking at at least 3 1st rounders, Cozens and a prospect.
I'm sorry I know there are some bad contracts but I didn't realize how many more years Skinner is making $9m. I started laughing out loud thinking poor Eichel.

There's more to this than just luck. He's getting paid 9 million and he has 1 assist in 11 games

I would argue he's gotten extremely lucky with his contract.... no?

For this reason I'd love to see some sort of reverse arbitration process. Like if I get hired to do a certain job and significantly underachieve, then my employer reserves the right to fire me. Yes I'd get a certain severance but like I'm absolutely shocked how big of a cliff Skinner appears to have fallen off of, performance wise.

Buy-out isn't horrible if they did it next summer, except the 22-23 season.

Wow that's still soooo much money for him if they buy him out.

And they’d be paying until 2032...

I just looked at the buyout calculator myself. Wow, that’s a tough one. It’s like the Alex Semin contract the Canes are still eating today (last year of $2.3M on the cap - yeah!).

It's better than 9 million a year or trading the teams future to get rid of it
