No, he'd still be an RFA I believe. He'll be 26 when that deal expires with only three years of NHL experience. 2x5mil is a fair bridge deal

If they really want to get rid of Johansen, that's not a bad way to do it.

I think he’d have 1 more year of RFA but he’d price himself out. You go 7ish mil by 7/8 years on him. No point in bridging a guy who’s shown he’s the real deal.

I’d like a tad more retention but the idea works for me.

Is Ryan Johansson e vcd en still good? Sean Monahan, Vincent Trocheck in my opinion are better, & wild GM didn't want any of them

Also with Judd brackett on board ,expansion, 25 mil in cap room with wild struggling, & Pitt pick potentially being lottery pick with them Currently being out of playoff spot. don't see Wild GM giving up any of the 1st round pick

Yes, but he'd be arbitration eligible. In which case he could drive the price up, if he chose to do so. Signing him long-term at or near that price point now gives us a few extra valuable years at a lower cap hit when things would still be extremely tight with more large contracts on the roster being added onto it.

Especially when we'd have to be working around Parise, Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin, Zuccarello's and more contracts.

Rossi would also most likely be on the final year of his elc for Kaprizov's first year of his new contract after that 2 year extension you gave him ends. So we'd be looking to lock him up on his first contract. And if he hits, then Rossi probably is looking at a contract in the same realm as Barzal.

The reality is, an additional 1-2 years of Kaprizov at the lower cap hit could mean having a crucial extra $2-3M to go towards paying Rossi.

Otherwise one of Fiala or Kaprizov would have to be dealt in order to be able to afford our future franchise center.

Unless, as I suggested in your other thread, Zuccarello was dealt to NSH in the Johansen trade.

I think gmbg is going to ride out the bad and expiring contracts and aim for only young up and coming players who fit the style he wants to win with and Johansen just doesn’t fit that mold.

Not sure Seattle is taking Hartman unless the Wild did a deal. Assuming you protected Parise, Zucc, Fiala (one spot for EK, Greenway, Foligno, Hartman) Suter, Spurg, Brodin, Dumba (unprotected Soucy)

Hard no to the Nashville trade. I have no interest in Johansen, especially if it costs a 1sts rounder to get him
