Saw a thread comparing nhl teams to nfl teams (curtesy of @Devil1122 ). Decided to change it to a sport I'm more familiar with.

Lightning-Lakers (best team in the league all around)
Leafs-Nets (great offense but not as good defense/depth)
Bruins-Raptors (good defensively, and have been consistently good for a long time, with one championship to show for it)
Avalanche-Clippers (they have a top 3 player in the league, and are a top 3 team in the league)
Blackhawks-Warriors (they were a dynasty of a long time but are now not very good)
Oilers-Mavericks (they have stars but just can't go anywhere)
Penguins-Heat (they had the best player in the league and won twice not long ago)
Senators-Thunder (they were good, then they were bad, but now have a bright future)
Sharks-Wizards (they were good but then they fell off a cliff)
Redwings-Knicks (they suck really badly right now)

Any that you don't like? Any more to add? Let me know your thoughts.

EDIT:
Also, how could I forget...
Habs-Celtics (best team historically and good now)
And for fun
Supersonic-Nordiques (both non existent teams that fans want back)

Which team would compare to Habs, so team with the most championship?

Or mlb...

Habs-Yankees (best team historically)
Leafs-Redsox (second best team historically with a huge rivalry)
Lightning-Dogders (best teams)
Blues-Cubs (both team who won to break very long droughts recently)
Blackhawks-Indians (both have "racist" logos)

Spot on for some of these (especially Nets/Leafs)

I would say Pistons and Red Wings (good in 90's and 00's but horrible now)
Suns and Sabres (Eichel=Booker) (Hall=CP3)
Rangers and Pelicans (Young teams underperforming)

Thanks.
Ya, Pistons-Redwings is a good comparison, especially since they are both Detroit anyways
Wanted to find a Sabres one, that's a good choice
Pelicans Rangers is pretty good, but the Pelicans are a step up I'd say with Zion.

Leafs/Mets: Both spend a fortune but never win. At least the Mets drought is only at 34 years. Leafs drought is like double that number, lol.

Except the mlb doesn't have a salary cap.

There's a lot more money spent besides salary. You don't think the leafs have a monumental advantage b/c off ice budget? And the leafs spent decades losing when there was no cap, just like the mets.

What are you spending besides salary? The leafs have essentially no advantage (expect they can structure contracts in a way that helps) with the salary cap. Although I will agree they were bad before the salary cap, but that was due to crappy management.

I would think they'd be willing to spend much more on scouting, coaches, development, and anything else to possibly give them a competitive advantage.

I forgot the Indians logo was changed to a C, forget I said that.

But I wouldn't be surprised if that logo is still somehow "racist" given what's considered "racist" these days.
