The question is would the Canucks be able to afford, with contracts of younger players coming up in 2022-2023. A lot of young talent looking for a lot of money in upcoming years. I think it's a move Canucks would have to really think about.

Miller is better than 5 of your Top 6 defenseman. Can lead a second line PP and also play PK. Detroit is a perfect fit with Miller and the rebuild. Especially with deal involving 2 later round picks. Stevie Y would jump on it.

Canucks have more cap space than you think. They can give both Hughes and Pettersson 10mil without having to do anything

Why would Pettersson and Landeskog sign to Buffalo? Huh?

This Eichel trade is not very good.

Sabres fans overvalue Jack. He is a great player, but never finished Top 10 in points, never been to the playoffs, never been considered for MVP. He's a number 1C and would be an MVP candidate on right team. Getting 2 firsts, Wood who is developing into a 2LW and Zacha who can be a 2C or 3C when Cozens is ready is a huge return already. Then getting Nolan Foote who will become a strong power foward with a 2 way game and can be a Top 6 is more than enough value.

He's average at best and has no value here. We have Hronek, Seider and Lindstrom at MINIMUM on the right side as of next season. Zero chance Yzerman would want him.

After the offer sheet you'd be looking at a 13 man NHL roster with 13 ish million to sign Demko, Hughes, a replacement for Edler, replacement for Benn, Gaudette, Pearson, with how Holtby has looked I wouldn't guarantee Seattle takes his contract off the books. Jim Benning better worry about other things than thank you notes.

He may be the GM that people think is incompetent enough to offer sheet, especially with Demko and Petterson out there.

Colorado cannot afford to resign Landeskog, Buffalo will have money and if they move Jack, Landeskog becomes a Captain right away.

Exactly why I targeted the Canucks. They have a lot of young talent with expiring RFA/UFA deals in the coming years. matching would force a tough decision, which is exactly what offer sheets are designed to do.

It helps that it's Benning too and it's absolutely the year to do it, Hughes is ineligible for an OS but Demko would be a prime candidate for a team looking for a 1B that can turn into a great starter.

I mean it's Buffalo, few people want to play here, especially with these owners and Eichel's trade.

Wood- 2LW
Zacha- 2C or 3C with Cozens becoming 2C
Nolan Foote- Future 2LW/2RW, power foward with 2 way game
2022 1st and 3rd
2023 1st

Tons of value for a player who has underachieved and has not been a winner in the league. More than enough talent coming back immediately and 2, 1st's that are likely both lottery picks.

I think we have a GM now though that is a good communicator and can sell players on coming here. $$$ speaks a lot in any NHL deal. Plus young talent like Cozens, Quinn, Olofsson, Dahlin would be appealing. Then working on this scenario, having a guy like Tuch, Wood, and Zacha to play with would be appealing as well.

Maybe Wood is just having a good streak? He usually scores 20-30 points per season, this is not the top 6 LW.

The same can be said about Zacha.

Foote is just an extra part. If we trade Eichel in New Jersey, it starts with Hughes+ or Hischier+, the only way.

Calgary has also been interested in Reinhart for the past 2 years. Reinhart moves close to his hometown, Monahan gets a change of scenery along with Bennett who the Sabres can develop into a strong 3rd line player who can also PK. I think that is the most appealing trade to me when I worked on this. If the Eichel trade were not to happen, having Eichel and Monahan as top 2 centers would make Buffalo much deeper and threatening offensively.

If Pettersson signs for 8.6, Hughes and Demko sign bridge deals at 7mil and 3mil, and Gaudette signs at 1.25mil. Signing Podkolzin gives them a roster size of 15 and 8.5mil in cap space, which is enough to fill out the remaining spots. There is no way that OS deters the Canucks from signing Pettersson.

Wood is now 25 and just now hitting his stride and prime. Wood has also been used in a 4th line role for most of his NHL tenure. Devils are now using him in a second line role this year and he's produced 8 pts in 10 games. He also plays a strong 2 way game, is physical and has size. Something this Sabres team lacks.

Zacha is 23, still a year or 2 away from entering his prime. He too, used in a 3rd or 4th line role the past 3 seasons. He is a 2C in this league.

Foote can has a similar development to Wood which would be fine. The Sabres have not developed a good bottom 6 forward of their own, who can put up 30-35 points in the past decade. Foote is a 2LW/RW in this league by age 25.

Hughes and Hirschier are sexy names, but are they what the Sabres need? The answer is no. Thats what Botterill and Murray failed to do is draft and trade for what the Sabres need. I think Adams recognizes need. Wood, Zacha, Foote would fill needs on the team. They bring size, 2 way game, grit and scoring. The Sabres have not had players that can do all those things throughout this rebuild.

The 2022 and 2023 1st's allow you to draft more skill players.

I think you need to have some optimism if your a Sabres fan. I think also as a Sabres fan you need to stop overvaluing Jack and Sam. Neither have won **** in this league and neither have lived up to their true potential. Whether that is their fault or the Sabres management is yet to be determined.
