I don't see, and I doubt Winnipeg protects Stanley over Demelo. Stanley wouldn't get selected anyways and Demelo is a proven NHL d-man on a team that lacks defence and has seen guys walk away. They'll wanna keep him.

Also don't see Lowry or Copp getting that long term of contracts. Don't know why you'd give those kinda players that term in the first place. Lower the years, lower the AAV and save some cap space.

Why protect Lowry when he's a pending UFA?

Protect Harkins instead for example.

Also think Seattle will be taking Berdin. He's hands down the best prospect available from the Jets. Potentially the next Shesterkin.

Lowry contract is awful. There is no way I'd do that. 5 years on a 3C is just way to much length on that deal.
I also think the Stastny contract is bad. He's 36 next year. 2 years at almost 5 million. No. that's a bad move.

Contracts are bad but I would welcome Lowry and Stastny back. Lowry for 3 years @ 3.25 and Stastny the same but for only 2 years. Both signed after the expansion draft so you don't have to protect.

Copp could come cheaper- 3.5.

Pionk probably gets that because he deserves it.

Not a fan of Demelo's contract so yeah expose him and hope he is picked up
