treliving definitely needs to do something. Without Markstrom I honestly don’t know if we would have a point in the last 8 games. Ward’s a mediocre coach and the top line needs someone physical who can bury the puck. Mangiapane is a top 6 calibre guy, but he’s another small skill guy, which is fine, but not what johnny+mony need, and he forms a good shutdown line with backlund. We need someone new for that top offensive line and I think that’s pretty clear at this point.

Wanted him for ages but apparently the deal would've involved Monahan and as much as Mony struggles at times, he's still key to our C depth, has good chemistry with Johnny most of the time, and at his peak is a 1C calibre guy, which is hard to justify trading for a 2RW who had 1 goal in 26 games. If we coulda got him for Bennett+Mangiapane or something I probably woulda done that, but like most people this off-season I certainly didn't think Anderson had anything close to that kind of value.

They would do the trade because in 2021 to 2022 there's only cap room for one of Tatar or Danault. Also Tatar is now a top nine with Montreal Bennett always been a top nine. Bennett produces in the playoffs Tatar doesn't. Bennett plays center and wing Tatar plays wing only with young centers like KK Suzuki and Evans. Bennett has grit Tatar doesn't....

Tatar gets over 50 points a season, Bennette doesnt, Tatar is a top 6 forward, Bennett is a bottom 6 forward, one is not like the other. Habs likely keep Tatar as thier own rental, doubtful they downgrade to get a 15th pick in this years draft.

Wow you are arguing with this guy lol everyone who trades Tatar and Danault for big downgrades don’t understand that it’s worth the shot to keep them both as our own rental and face that we might lose them for nothing this summer. But this year is our best shot with this current roster/depth
