I think one Granlund, Pearson, Rakell, Iafallo, or Bennett will be added. Or another similar forward, but these seem to be the ones the leafs want. We will see.

To make it out of the north, i don’t think they need to add. To make it beyond that, I think they need a whole new construction.

they're main need is a 3C. Kerfoot just isn't a full time NHL centre. I liked him on the wing a lot better with his speed and forechecking ability, he could be the guy that helps Tavares and Nylander again. For 3C, I'd go after a guy like Nick Bonino. Tons of speed, defensively reliable and can kill penalties. Probably costs a 1st and a prospect though. From there, sure Bennett would be a decent add, but he's a 4th line guy in Toronto so idk how much of a "need" that is. But just like any team they'll wanna add depth of defence, it just seems to be a position that gets injured a lot in playoffs and never bad to have too many of them

What has Kerfoot done to indicate he is not a full time 3C? Is it because he has near .5 points a game? A positive +/-? Is it because he is driving a line of other snakebitten forwards (Mikheyev). I have yet to see Kerfoot show anything but being a solid 3C. Some Leaf fans just have this constant fascination of other teams players who aren't any better than their own. I remember seeing Holl for 7th round picks posted on here daily not too long ago.

I can see the Leafs making an add of a player such as Pearson. But it won't involve moving a player like Kerfoot out.

I didn't say trade Kerfoot, I said move him to the wing where he's well more effective.

To be a centre, you have to be the most dominant person on your line. Kerfoot just isn't that. Points and plus/minus are not an indicator of how well a player is playing at all. Kerfoot's style of play better suits him for the wing. He's not responsible defensively sound or strong in his own end, doesn't win faceoffs (41% going into last night's game), and isn't much of a playmaker. Those are 4 key factors in a centre's game. Kerfoot's strengths are his speed and his forechecking game. He's the guy that can go into a corner and win a battle. That's what Tavares and Nylander need and it showed by how good they were last season together, and even a little bit this season when Nylander played with Kerfoot. Although Kerfoot was centre, he was the guy going in the corners for the puck to get it to Nylander. Kerfoot is a good player for this team with his style of play, it's just not at centre.

Who would you take out if one of those guys gets added?

Could take Engvall out, I'm a fan of Boyd's game on the 4th line. I'm okay with leaving Robertson in the AHL this year to ensure he is getting his minutes.

I don’t have Engvall in there. I really like Boyd also. I hope they bring him back next year. Wouldn’t you rather just call up Robertson than add a player? Also keep the assets you’d be giving up

To be fair, I didn't even look at your roster. Guess I should pay a little more attention.

In this instance, I would send Robertson back down, let him play top line minutes with the Marlies and let the rotation of the 4th liners continue. Leave Spezza and Boyd alone and continue to tinker with who their linemate will be. I don't think Robertson's development improves with having Spezza and Boyd as his linemates, just my opinion. And Robertson's game isn't at the point right now to justify taking Hyman/Mik/Jumbo/Simmer out of the top 6, he still has some growing (literally and figuratively) to do.

All good, so let’s say the leafs add Pearson. I’m guessing he takes Simmonds spot on the 2nd line. Does he then go to the 4th line? He’s kinda useless down there, no? I’m sure Keefe wants to reunite that checking line of Hyman Kerfoot Mikheyev, so that’s not breaking up. Again, don’t see the need to add

I don't even see Keefe wanting Simmonds anywhere other than beside JT and Willy with how they were doing before he got injured. Why bring in someone else to play with them and try to develop chemistry late in the year when you can stick to what was working?

I agree, they shouldn't have to add. Simmonds will be our TDL move.

You make a valid point. Maybe Robertson, since it's halfway through the season so they don't burn a year of ELC? I'm just going with what Elliot Freidman is saying, that they will add a forward.
