Not just the pieces but the cap space too. It's a tough time to be adding a star on a star contract unless you want to cripple the rest of the roster.

Mtl, Vancouver, Buffalo would have to take back 10 million in bad cap room, so would have to be quite a blockbuster. Sharks, kings, and ducks probably could swing something also

Rangers stand out to me, kakko, a first(assume top 10) chytil and. 22’ second. If that first isn’t top ten probably have to add but I feel if eichel wants out that wouldn’t be a horrible haul.

Keep in mind another year of flat cap would severely limit potential suitors.

Eichel for Gibson, mix in some other pieces. With Dostal waiting in the wings, could make sense.

Kakko isn’t good though it’s too risky to trade a good player for a player that hasn’t shown anything really impressive.

Which is why jack isn’t asking out until 2022. So he has a say where he might want to be traded too.

The won’t just want futures. They will need an elite ready NHL player coming back.

I would assume the Sabres would wait until after the season so more teams would have the cap space. It would maximize your potential return if you got more teams involved.

Come on, Gibson won't help us make the playoffs if our rest of the team sucks and we don't have centers or elite forwards. Zegras is a blue-chip prospect and we could build around Cozens, Zegras, Dahlin, UPL, Quinn, Jokiharju and the rest. Gibson as a base for Eichel just won't work.

Who would be some elite NHL players that you could see going back in an Eichel trade?

It’s hard to say, they are going to lose any trade involving Eichel.
    If it’s
DET I’m looking for Mantha +
    VGS Fleury + Glass
    ANA Gibson
FLA Barkov (but if he won’t resign in FLD no way he signs in BUF

Even then though the number of teams is likely smaller than it would otherwise be. In a normal environment maybe the Avs offer up Byram and Newhook, but now they would need to dump a bunch of cap as well.

My only point is that just because a team might have the pieces doesn't mean they'll be in on him. The flat cap throws and extra wrinkle.

Obviously they'll still have a lot of offers. Might come with an ugly ass contract coming back though.

Kakko will be fine, but I do think sabres would get a better deal next year. As I said I think eichel would be worth more but market will be tiny with flat cap.

That said I’m assuming this is kakko, something like 8th overall, chytil and a second which I feel would be one of the better current offers

Blue chip center prospect, blue chip winger prospect, 1-2 1sts/2nds depending on the quality of the prospects, roster player or two to help balance the cap difference a bit.

Let's use Anaheim as an example:
    - Trevor Zegras
    - Maxime Comtois
    - 2021 1st
    - 2022 2nd
    - Adam Henrique
    - Jacob Larsson

But Eichel isn't being traded so the above is simply for the sake of the conversation
