You do realize that nearly everyone in our organization’s contracts will be done in 4 years? The only people under contract will be Price, Weber, Anderson, and Gallagher. Most of our young players will be done their ELCs, including: Caufield, Kotkaniemi, Suzuki, Primeau, Romanov, Norlinder, Harris, etc.

I’d love to see an outline of how you expect to deal with this contract, especially when Suzuki and Romanov’s ELCs are up 1.5 years from now.

Ryan Johansen isn’t a piece that’s going to put you over the top. He’s barely (if at all) better than Danault, and I wouldn’t even do this if he and Phil had the exact same contract.

So if you don’t care about cap space, do you think that we should trade a 1st for Vlasic because he’s better than Mete and we should trade for Eriksson because he’s better than Frolík?

By trading for Johansen, you’re making sure that the habs can’t re-sign their core young players and you’re making sure the window is only open for one year so you can make a lateral move.

While Johansen is a little overpaid he's still a 1b big bodied C. He has value. While you can likely send Byron or similar back and get out of some bad short term contracts, Nashville will want futures back

Otherwise they'd be better retaining 2 mil and trading to a team like Buffalo who's been desperately searching for their 2c forever.

I'm not a Nashville fan so it isn't sent to me. But a 2nd and 3rd from a good team is moderate value at best. Is Poehling worth much? I think you're more likely to trade them Byron, or have them retain but then up the quality your sending. Like a 1st or Kotkaniemi or something

i think johnsen needs a change. preds have talent, but aren't playing well. they're heading towards a rebuild IMO. Johnsen would be perfect to ease suzuki and KK in.
