Probably the most accurate depiction of an Eichel trade I've seen. The Sabres have zero "driving force" to want to trade him, so it will be a straight up bidding war if/when he hits the block. It would take a mega deal to land him. Something like is the likely scenario.

If the Sabres are trading Eichel, it’s a rebuild. They’d probably have no interest in Monahan.

The deal, when it happens, will look nothing like this. It will be a pick-player-young player/prospect, because Buffalo can't take on a bunch of futures and try rebuilding again. It has to be guys to help now. So Monahan-Zary-1st, or Monahan-Pelletier-Zary, to speed up the timelines. But don't go expecting another team's best player, plus a whole bunch more that will prevent the new team from building around Eichel.
