He’s got like triple the amount of NHL games as laf, and has stunk up the joint just as badly.

Didn't Kakko turn 20 (like) a week ago?

Who would call a 19 year old, playing at the highest level of hockey in the world, a bust?

because when you draft guys 1OA and 2OA you expect impact.....not 4th line production.

Then you're doomed, because such expectations are unrealistic at 19

The list of 1OA the last 20 years say otherwise.

I heard Krappo Kakko and Alexis LeFraudiere

In all honesty, Rangers are doing a horrible job developing players.

Listen, I got no stock in this argument, but all Im saying is that there were a few people on this website said that Lafreniere would outperform Willy Nylander THIS YEAR in response to a trade. Not tryna say hes a bust or that it wouldve been worth it as a long term investment, but its kinda like there was no world in which Lafreniere was gonna put up a 60 goal pace in his rookie season.

I'm not a rangers fan, but all this hate is BS. KID JUST TURNED 20 LAST WEEK. Look back to 1999 ... look at every top 3 guys production at NHL level pre 20th birthday... then subtract 5 or so generational HOF talents. What do you have ? more future All Stars than busts. Coach him up & Give the Kid a chance

I think it’s more @csick gently chirping the fact that his beloved Stuetzle is doing pretttttty good. All in good fun.

Not hating. I didnt hate on Kakko and Hughes for having down years relative to Dach last year. I didnt even say that I would go back and pick Dach 1st overall last year. They all have bright futures as does Laf. All Im saying, is people said that Laf would outperform W Nylander THIS YEAR, which was insane to think from the beginning.

Not saying either are busts yet especially laf. Hovever I was told by some that laf was the best since McDavid and a 100 point player. He could still be that and some people start of slow but the list of players that started off slow and then became franchise talents is short. Many still became good players but not 1st line all stars.

Not gonna lie there was a lot of hype around him. That's not to say he won't be a great player eventually. But if you were looking for it this year, looks like you leaving disappointed.
I don't know, a lot of the draft hype is starting to bite the NHL. No one wants to say it's the 99 draft etc.... but you look at the results at the top of these last 2 drafts, and well....they are lagging.
At least Stutzle is performing well.

Agreed. I think Laffy has the highest ceiling, and nobody should be surprised at the slow start (They should have sent him to the WJC to get some playing time in, IMO), but I'm excited to see who ends up having the better career out of Stuetzle and Byfield.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Laf until he does show a real good stretch. But Stutzle looks like a guy that’s headed to a point per game player who can drive the puck. I think Aho/Pettersson is a good similarity in terms of ceiling
