Bringing Karlsson Back

Created by: Rooster
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 19, 2021
Published: Feb. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's clear that Karlsson and SJ are not a good fit. He's also a diminished asset. Can the Sens do a deal to bring him home to shore up the right side, while offering SJ some much needed cap relief from their aging defence? His heart is in Ottawa, his wife is from this town. Time to make it right.

At least Hoffman is gone (and his wife)!

But bridges might be burned between the two parties :/

Relationship between Karlsson and the Sens organization is beyond repair.

Coming back to Ottawa would give Karlsson PTSD.

Also, Karlsson has an NMC.

This ain't it chief.

Agreed on the strained relationship. But the grass ain't always greener. I'm sure Karlsson has many regrets on how it ended in Ottawa. Let's assume Dorion gets axed at some point and a new GM comes in with fresh eyes. Stranger things have happened. Unlikely? Yes. But ACGM is where the unlikely happens! Cheers.

Don't want Karlsson back on that contract unless we get him for free basically

With regards to the Stepan to Vegas thing:

We just sent a 2nd to Arizona to get Stepan and now, we are sending him to Vegas for a 5th???

Pierre Dorion wouldn't be able to sleep at night if he did that frown

For a better Stepan trade, please see my very first ACGM post.

It isn't that Karlsson isn't a good fit in San Jose, it's just that he wasn't the player he once was, maybe due to the effects of injuries. He wasn't at his peak when he was traded and he has fallen off since.

I do agree he's past his prime, but you have to admit you didn't think he'd fall off this fast. Multiple groin injuries in less than 3 years. Hasn't played more than 60 games a season. SJS themselves haven't played well over the last couple years. It's a really odd situation.

Interesting but the Sharks aren’t retaining that much for that long so no Thanks.
