I wish we could get Nuge for that cheap. Deal would have been signed already

Lmao what? Thats like saying half of Marner's points are 2nd assists to Matthews. You clearly underestimate how solid of a player Nuge is

He sure as hell isn't signing for 3 x $6,250,000 in Montreal when he wants either 7x7 or 7x7.5 and Danault already turned down 6x5 from the Habs so he isn't taking less reportedly he wants closer to 6x6.

Both Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Phillip Danault laugh at those offer and walk.

In reality, he has more goals than secondary assists (7 vs 6), and only 3 of his secondary assists are on McDavid goals, i.e. 19% of his points. But hyperbole is also an option, so you know, take your pick.

Also, if you truly do think he only has points and value since he plays beside McDavid, why would you want to pay him 6 mil plus on Mtl? He wouldn't be playing with anything like McDavid there.

I think unless the Oilers pull off another Ryan Smyth debacle (Holland is less prone to those, he likes rewarding loyal players), Nuge will resign somewhere between 6.5-7 at a long term (6-7 years) deal, and 7-7.5 mil per on a mid term deal (3-5 years). Only wrinkle I think is if he really wants to go be the leader on Seattle and try to create a Vegas like team near his home on the west coast. He *could* probably get a Duchene level deal from Seattle at 8 mil longterm, and at that point I would want the Oil to walk away to make sure goaltending and overall balance can be addressed.

Columbus says No easily. Byron does not add anything substantial to our roster (we have lots of depth guys like him already), Foudy-for-Kotka is close enough to being a lateral move as makes little difference, and Peeke is our insurance policy against Savard leaving or declining or both.
