Description
Propably that i will offend the people that think Lafrenière ceiling is the next Crosby some but they can go fk themselfs.

New york biggest need is at center, i don't think anyone will be shock to heard about that. So Lafrenière who was a late bloomer already 19 year old could be use to acquire Kotkaniemi from the Habs. Kotkaniemi is only 13 month older then Lafrenière would be a great addition to New York who have tons of great young players a various position excepted of the center line where Chytil is probably the only players with true Nhl potential. They already have high end talented winger but their centerline is clearly the weekness.

I think the Habs take that deal. Tatar would be moving on and Laf could replace him and Kotkaniemis new contract money would be used for Danault so it definitely works that way.

As a NJD fan, I fully endorse this deal

But NYR not getting right value for him here...make the pick a 1st, and add a young forward /prospect

Montreal have no need to had anything. Centerman hokd much more value in this league then winger. Just look at what Winnipeg had to gave up for Dubois. Being a first overall pick doesn't make is value higher. If the draft where to be redo It would be Lafreniere but Stutzle that would have gone first. This is a hockey traded just like Columbus traded Johansen to grab a Jones. at this exact moment there is no question about who is the best players. I mean Lafreniere play the wing and barely fallow the play. Kotkaniemi have been a reliable center who haven't had much playing time and still produced.

Why give up on Lafreniere after like 15 games? He has fine underlying numbers, on ice sh% is super low. All of a sudden people Tim Stutzle is better and now Lafreniere's value is the same as Kotkaniemi + a 15% chance of an nhl player? This is like when Tampa Bay almost traded Stamkos to NYR back in the day for a package of players like Dubinsky, Callahan, Girardi. Can someone give a reason why Lafreniere's value is different now than the beginning of the season other than the fact that at 19 he has 1 point after 15 games?

But Stützle has been better (an extra year pro hockey, so not unexpected at this point).
If they traded Laf, Zegras would be the guy to target.

I agree with you on Centers > Wingers. If the offer was Stützle for Lafreniere, would make more sense. (or Zegras as I mentioned above). But Kotkaniemi is a tougher sell in my view.

how many game that Zegras have played yet ? Kotkaniemi have already been learning how to play well defensively and is ready to contribute not. Zegras is only a very good prospect who have everything to prove in the nhl.

i was pretty clear in the description that New york move him not because he isn't good but because they absolutely suck at center. Just take a look at the past 20 stanley cup teams and look at their center line.

I agree with you on the lack of centers in NY. Doesn't matter how good the wingers are, Filip Chytil isn't a 1c if Zibanejad walks.
But if they offer up Lafreniere, they will have plenty of centers to chose from.

None. But is a home-grown kid, grew up a Ranger fan, plays center, and is the best prospect currently outside the NHL. NYR would be nuts not to accept a Zegras one-for-one swap for any of their wingers.

I agree that Zegras look like a stud but he is their only center in their organization that can take Getzlaf place. Centerman are so hard to find in this league, they almost never moved. The best prospect maybe that not but he is right their with Drysdale, Caufield, Byfield, Seider. Seider have been absolutely fantastique the past 2 season against men. He would probably be Detroit best defenceman.

I love Seider...am big believer in Caufield and Drysdale...I am torn on Byfield's ceiling...but I don't think any of them are on the same level as Zegras. Also, none of them are home-grown and Byfield is the only center.

I was just talking about the hyped prospect. I don't see any of these 5 players having a definite edge over another. They are all differente type of players but they all have great chance of success. I would be trill to have anyone of these players in my organiztion.

All solid players, but

Zegras

(gap)

Seider

(gap)

Drysdale
Byfield
Caufield

In my view. Of course, Holtz, Mercer, Foote and Walsh will be better than all of them grimace
