Why would LA give up their goaltender of the future for a 2nd round draft pick?

Petersen is pencilled in as our goalie of the future, i.e., following the expansion draft. We wouldn't be trading him, especially within our division (which we expect to be restored next season).

He would be playing behind Demko and would eventually just be blocking a spot for Dipietro. All I'm saying is trading a 2nd for the one position they don't need to upgrade is dumb
