A top 5 pick is worth at least 2 firsts

Tkachuk might be worth more than 2.5 1sts. I've seen people who want their team to offer sheet him for 4 1sts next year. Not saying he's worth that much, but still

It would be very tempting although you can work on all this, if you already have Tkachuk+, maybe it will not be Sanderson, but your other defenseman or striker, the initial value is already there.

I think that with Eichel's cap hit and what he's due to be paid over the next 5 years, the value of the return for Eichel in a trade will be more diminished.

Not to mention, he's not tradable after June of next year because of his NMC.

I think the Sabres will be somewhat lucky to get 2 high quality 1st round picks in a trade for Eichel, let alone 5 or 6.

That's just me.

Especially since Tkachuk is still on an ELC while Eichel's cap hit is 10 million.

I had Kyle Connor’s value at 3 1sts so I was debating saying Tkachuk was 3 1sts but I kept it at 2.5 to give him room to move up to 3

If you're Jim Benning, what would you pay for Eichel?

Also, how would you make the money work?

Just curious.

The equivalent value of Eichel would be : approximately
Horvat (3 1sts)
Podkzin (2 1sts)
2nd round pick (.5 1st)
Total = 5.5 1sts

If you could sign Eichel to an offersheet at 10 mill for 6 years and knew that Buffalo wouldn’t match, I think most non lottery teams would take that so quick. So let’s put the value at 5 1sts fixed then

well even your value of 1sts differ. i mean a 1st rd pick can be david pastarnak and it can also be Stuart Percy. So just saying a 1st rd pick is not appropriate.

i think thats fair. i dont like the idea of "1sts", it should be player value, position, and production. in Horvat you get a very very very good center who can put up 60 points while playing a game any coach would love. podkolzin has an elite winger potential. add a mid to late 1st and makes sense to me for eichel. i mean eichel is great, but you aren't trading for mcdavid.

What I was trying to say is that in an actual trade for Eichel, a team would probably be spending no more than two actual 1sts.

Not that Eichel isn't worth 5/6 1sts in the entire intrinsic value of the return for him (he probably is).

Sorry for the misunderstanding smile

Canucks have no need for Eichel so I wouldn't offer anything. But if I had to make an offer it would be Horvat, Miller, Rathbone, and I dunno like 2 1sts but like I said the Canucks aren't gonna make an offer
