Assuming Boston is on Hertls list of 3 teams

Created by: benkel
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 19, 2021
Published: Feb. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm also assuming that from GM Doug Wilson's perspective, compromising with Hertl on extension talks is like trying to compromise with people that use capfriendly.

People like you.

Who are reading this description, looking at the trade scenario and dropping a comment that offers no constructive solutions on how to make a fair trade work between two teams.

I'm assuming Hertl is going to walk out on the Sharks next year.

Could Hertl be the player that puts Boston over the top and delivers its first stanley cup in over a decade?

This trade is modelled off of the Matt Duchene trade from 2017.

I also don't touch any core pieces to the Bruins roster, much like the 2017 Duchene trade.

As a distinguished ACGM, do you have the courage to bring a Stanley Cup to Boston?

Or to even increase the cup odds for the Bruins?

Then please consider this trade.

I'll see you in the comments :D

P.S. If the second line with Hertl works out okay, it could be known as the "Czeching" line lol.

When you have a Kings fan saying stuff like this you know something's not right lol. All of this is correct though.

I follow all teams at least a little bit.

You can't stop posting, can you?

Triggered.

Here's what I'll do:

This will be my last comment and tomorrow, I'll head on over to Sharks ACGM page, post the same thing and get showered with praise.

To stop you from barging in and invading our fun, I'll post with the title "NO BRUINS FANS ALLOWED!!!"

I'll even like your last comment to make you feel better.

Deal?

Great! Thanks for doing business with us! LOL

Kinda stands to reason right. You make one trade robbing one team, and then the fans of the team that are doing the robbing are probably going to like it?

Does that make sense to you little guy? Back to work. Go watch a sharks game.

Okay that's fine Sweeney can do what he pleases. If he's that high on Studnicka it's no problem but I have a hard time believing that passing up Stone just to keep Studnicka was a smart move if that was the case. The same is true for Hertl but to a lesser extent. I get that this trade is not great for the Bruins holistically (picks and prospects included) but if the whole thing swings on Studnicka that's just a bit silly to be frank.

Not if you look at the bruins roster.

Centers are kind of old don’t you think?

Bottom line is that hertl just isn’t a good enough player to move the needle for the bruins to be interested in moving a first round pick and prospects.

I think ziggy is the number one blocked guy on this site. He’s an absolute doofus. I talk about points per game and he’s talking about injuries.

don't worry about Bcarlo he's a homer.
His opinions are as bias as Milbury's

The main problem I have with this is I don't think he wants to go to BOS.
Look we have to be realistic about the whole situation.
SJS is a team that has aged out. He knows what the hell that means.
Why would he want to put himself right back onto another team basically in the same boat for a 1 year run at a cup?
BOS best players are old. The guy who makes the whole 1st line go is 35 years old.
I don't see him wanting to go there and be involved in that. He'd be little more than a rental there. Of which I don't think BOS wants to trade all of that for a rental.
If what he wants is a chance to win and compete and not just money, a move to BOS isn't going to cut it. As I'm sure he doesn't want to bounce from team to team a year or two later.

4 years ago, I would have said the same thing about Duchene.

Especially when Colorado was in dire straits at the time and Ottawa was goal away from the stanley cup final.

I didn't think Ottawa would give up that much for Duchene but wow, how things have changed smile

Its all quantity no quality thats the problem. Sharks would consider this for sure but they would rather get one great prospect than 4 meh ones

Colorado robbed them but fliping turris to Nashville was the huge kicker on top of it

Where it is true that many fanbases greatly underrate Hertl, sharks fans also highly overrate him on this website - especially his trade value. This package is far too much for Tomas.

He's much more than "a 1st round pick" my guy. He'll cost much more than that.

No problem offer the 1st a d Wilson hangs up the phone and we all move on. Sharks have spoken multiple time aboutHertl he is not available period.

I’m fine. Just annoyed at the vultures trying to pick the sharks clean with bad deals arguing they are fair.

This could be the most lopsided trade the sharks and the bruins have ever made. Think about that.

Jsut because you don’t know who the players are doesn’t make them, “meh.”

This would be one of the best moves the sharks have made in their franchise history. It’s in the Thornton territory for robbery.

I know the players. None of them has a potential higher than a middle six player. The sharks would perfer to get a top line replacement

Hertl isn’t a top line player for a decent team.

The trade offered is decent even go as far as saying an overpay, I was commenting on the guy saying the 21 1st is all Hertl is worth.

The problem is 21 1sts after the top 10 I think have a 15-20% chance of being impact players and the prospects are decent but not wow, this is one of those trades that look really good, but then nothing from them pans out.

Cool. This trade is with boston, and they’re giving up the farm for secondary scoring. Makes zero sense. If you can find me a similar value traded for a player of hertl’ s production in this century, I’ll be very surprised.

Okay, well, yikes. I think you have to give the prospects a google. And i get that a pick outside the top ten isn’t a lock to pan out, but you aren’t trading Gretzky here. It’s Tomas hertl. If you want to argue his value is a late first and a B prospect, I’ll hear you out, but it can’t be more than that. Again. This is a guy that his hit 50 points once in his career.

So - totally apart from the trade, I don't think Boston is giving that up for ANYONE who's 27 with just over a year to UFA. I really don't think that the Bruins are going to (or should) trade a lot of futures at this point. Looking at their team, they've too many good young players to bottom out, and if they can keep from giving crazy contracts or trading for over-valued players, they'll be able to transition from Bergeron/Marchand/Kreijci/Chara pretty smoothly.
Their D is still a strength this year with Chara and Krug gone, Pasternak is a star, DeBrusk is a good winger, Studnicka has looked really good at times - and never bad, just not consistent yet.
Then it's the solid bunch of Coyle, Smith, Kase, and the cast from Providence. They've a bunch of young players who've all shown flashes. You have to hope that a couple of them keep developing.... some players are amazing NHL players at 19 (Pasternak, say), but most take more time. The noise around Boston is just crazy, where it seems like they want to give up on any 24 year old who hasn't scored 30 goals in the NHL yet.....
