I think that it's time for me to update the list of players I think Anaheim will protect in the expansion draft.

I'd be very interested in seeing that lol. Why did they put Henrique on waivers? I like him

Pretty confusing. Must be a “let’s see if we can save this money” thing.

I wouldn't hate it, but I worry about that contract and would rather the Wings pass on him to be honest

He's an upgrade over that they currently have and if his stock can rise, they can trade him for decent picks

I firmly believe that they'll protect the four kids they drafted (Jones, Lundestrom, Steel and Terry). I used to think that the choice was between which of the Old Guard (Henrique, Rakell, Silfverberg) and which of the traded-for kids (Heinen, Milano) they'd retain, but now I don't know.

As to defenders, I'd be perfectly happy that they'd keep the three LDs and expose both of Manson and Shattenkirk. After all, they can only lose one of them.

Do you think Rakell or Silverberg will be traded at the deadline?

I would like to see that. As much as I like Rakell, and think that he's undervalued on CapFriendly, he could still get a decent return for us. Those second-round picks or excellent prospects can have unforeseen value (Martin Erat for Filip Forsberg).

I like Henrique, just don’t like that contract. At nearly 6M for a few years and the wrong side of 30. How much is Danault/RNH going to command this offseason?

I would think RNH would get the Duchene deal on the open market and Danault 6M+, but those guys won't want to go to Detroit.

Henrique makes most sense IMO and you have to be cap compliant anyway. Even after Bertuzzi and Hronek are resigned, Detroit will have almost 30M in cap space and they will be below the cap floor.

Danault or RNH may want to come to Detroit as we don’t know what is going on in their heads and Detroit can over pay also and offer plenty of ice time. Hitting the cap floor shouldn’t be an issue considering we can sign FAs and acquire cap dumps. Just because you have the cap space doesn’t mean you need to frivolously spend it.

Wings moved Alex Biega to the taxi squad today without a corresponding move.
    Could mean Henrique claim???
