New look lines and a move

Created by: arafay

Description
Not that I think wheeler has been bad, which he hasn’t recently tbh. He’s getting back to his old self. However, appleton has just been too good not to give time in the top 6

I would do the move for risto as soon as possible. Then, I would start looking for a penalty killing 4c. Someone with a bit more production than Lewis and Thompson. Maybe a guy like Thomas nosek if he hits waivers. No rush to find one though.

Also, need to get beaulieu out of the lineup ASAP. The guy started off great this season, but man, he’s playing worse d than niku right now lol. I get that there’s the whole element of sandpaper on the backend with him in the lineup but I don’t think anyone is going to try anything while 6”7 Stanley is on the ice lol

Risto is slow to coming back to the lineup from covid, I wonder if it’s just precautionary or if there’s an issue. I always hate giving up firsts but yes it can be definitely time to upgrade rhd

The thing is that with one move like this, the jets will be a top team in the division. I think the first is worth that. But yes, I agree that the jets are too good with drafting first rounders to give them out without consideration.

Also, poolman came back from covid and is getting better. Obviously it takes time but I’m not too worried about any of the players getting long term safety’s from the virus (except for ones who already have a medical condition).

Though I do have a guy in mind with that first: Corson Ceulemans

Beaulieu is kind of funny, can be solid, but more starts in a row, seems like more lost he gets. Healthy scratch every 3/4 games could pay some dividends for him. Ya I’m all for a rhd purchase for whatever it takes, ideally somebody a healthy upgrade and possibly some term.

With McCabe out any chance Risto gets traded is dead

Exactly. The only player that really fits that mold is ristolainen though.

Just read an article that he's not doing great. Chest pain and low oxygen. Poor guy

I mean, the sabres aren’t going to get the the playoffs so maybe move out a guy like risto and play a guy like jokiharju instead. In fact, if I were gm and this trade goes through, I’m calling back for McCabe at the tdl. I think if the sabres play their cards right at the tdl, they could come out with 2 1sts, 2 2nds, and a few prospects. And that’s on top of the players they already have. In fact, ima do a sabres one for fun just to see.

Oh really? Damn, man I hate this virus. I was more talking about recovery but it’s probably going to take some time. Hope he gets better soon.

Risto probably gets extended, in any event they wouldnt move him till the TDL next year only if they know hes not coming back. McCabe also looks like he tore his ACL

Other than a hefty overpay for Ristolainen it looks pretty good.

Wheeler is a 3rd line winger now, been saying it for awhile, not sure Appleton is really a 2nd line RW, it's worth a look but Maurice won't do it.

I'd make this trade for Ristolainen, depending on their cap situation they could probably extend him as well so the assets wouldn't of been wasted on short term help, not sure if Buffalo would do this though, probably not but ya never know, really see getting Morrissey a more capable D partner as imperative if they want to be anything more then a wildcard/first round exit team.

Wonder if that 3rd line wouldn't be better with Lowry on the wing, really think he'd be more effective on the wall, also wonder if keeping Stastny and Wheeler on separate lines might be necessary, spread out the age on the lines basically.. Lol

They need to do something with the defense if they don't want to be two years away from being two years away...

Yeah I saw that, that’s why I said check back at the tdl. Poor guy.

I don’t think risto will stay tbh. He hasn’t exactly been treated the best by the fanbase. Add in the fact that he’s even said “he will be the first one moved out when things get good in Buffalo”

I know it was an overpay, but I’m willing to do own right now. The jets need to get Morrissey a capable partner or they won’t get anywhere. And with the offence and goaltending the jets have right now, it would be a crime not to at least try

I originally said too much for Risto, didn’t realize he had Covid and was sick. Figured “delete” was easier than adding an edit.
Here’s to hoping he pulls through with no side effects.

I got ya. @MisstheWhalers has got me onboard with Ristolainen a little bit, I would just hate giving up a first for him.
