Trade Deadline

Created by: arafay
Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 20, 2021
Published: Feb. 20, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not a sabres fan but this team needs to take a step back to go forward. They simply don’t have goaltending or depth on offence to even be a wild card team. So move out the guys on expiring deals and build towards the future that includes the likes of eichel, reinhart, olofsson, cozens, quinn, and Peterka in the top 6. Add in the d the sabres likely pick in this coming draft and it could be a solid group long term. However, I don’t see them getting anywhere with this roster

Brutal trades for us. You want Eichel to ask for a trade?

If eichel asks for a trade, then so be it at this point. It’s better to be trash while building towards something than being trash while not building towards something. Simply put, they aren't exactly getting anywhere with this team and I doubt eichel is happy with this teams performance as is. It’s better that he lets this team retool for a year and then actually be competitive. If not, it’s better they move him, because then they aren’t getting anywhere with him.

Considering what arizona gave up, pretty descent. Maybe have a 3rd or something going back but overall, that’s what Itd take

Not even close. Hes not worth primeau at all. He’s a rental. We don’t need him plus could just wait and take a shot in fa. This is horrible

I mean, you may not be trying but you are tbh. You could have just said no to the primeau part lol. Just replace primeau with another A prospect. Maybe a guy like mysak or Norlinder (though the habs are very high on norlinder so doubt that one)

Next time try to be just a little bit constructive. This is a discussion site, not a comment site

Sorry,
He’s a rental, has attitude problems and isn’t what we need. A first and something small like mysak would be okay but again he’s not what we’re looking for

Vegas declines. No need to give up a second for Montour.

They will be looking at a depth LD if anything. Especially with McNabb returning. And when he does return, they probably don’t have the cap space for an almost 2 million dollar Dman.

Eichel being moved simply isn't an option. Sabres have been awful for a decade and another rebuild is not the way to go when you got one of the youngest and most skilled cores in the league. Your AGM isn't really a retool since you move out key players and fill those spots with prospects. The above team would certainly finish 2nd or 3rd last in the league. After seeing those results, heck ya Eichel may want to leave and I would give my consent because a team in our position CANNOT afford to rebuild anymore. We need to win NOW if we want to keep our good players in Buffalo

To make my point I will simply say the following:

“How’s that win now going for you?” Buffalo is literally 2nd last in the league rn. You’d bad anyway, might as well sell you expiring contracts and either use those picks for long term assets or move them for help now. You clearly aren’t getting anywhere with this team as is.
