Description

We are missing a goalie that will win us games. We've seen that when we get average goaltending, we win. And when we don't we can't outscore our mistakes.

Obviously a deal like this would have multiple NTCs that need to be waived so idc - there's some thought. Gibson is 27 signed for another 7 years, does he wanna wait until he's 30 something to be on a competitive team? Henrique is 31 and just got demoted, I'm sure he'd like to play for a contender. Biggest IF is Koskinen, 2 years left playing on a solid team - the only argument I have for him waiving is he prefers Disneyland over West Edmonton Mall - not to mention the constant -30 degree weather vs +30 degrees.

I don't like trading 1st round picks or prospects, but the Oilers core is here now, we've got an abundance of prospects pushing so I think we can afford to lose 3 just to get the 1 thing that we've been missing this time to take us to the promised land.

I would say Samorukov is our #2 D prospect - Broberg is a none starter, we literally have Nurse and nobody else on the left side that I'm comfortable calling a Top 4 Defenceman.

Benson is somewhere in our top 5 forward prospects but because our top 6 are all young, I think he just doesn't fill a role here and would be better off somewhere else. We're not trading Holloway, and I prefer Lavoie & McLeod over him - I might consider all 1 of those 3 (not Holloway) just to get this deal done.

The 1st rounder of course will add to ANA's prospect pool.

Maybe change Samorukov to Broberg and I’d think it would be enticing. (That 2022 pick could be a pretty high one)

I feel like we're so close to a Stanley Cup. Upgrade our goalie (id prefer go sign Binnington/Grubauer/Mrazek or another legit #1 this off-season rather than trade. Around $6mill). Trade for the right top 4, defensive left dman (Ekholm, Dunn, and a few other options). Pay to unload Neal, and possibly Koskinen this off-season. Sign a 30-40 point 3C with the extra cap space (Danault, Granlund, Wennberg, etc. Around 3-5mill. ). This way Turris can be a 4C. Kharia, Turris or Haas cant be our 3C for a deep playoff run. We could suprise people next year

Koskinen is not brutal. But yes Neal is. I’d think the Ducks would want Bouchard, a first round pick plus to get Gibson. Henrique is a throw in since he was just on waivers.

Montreal turned things around in 1 off season and they're paying 10mill to an average goaltender. We'll have to wait and see. But this is typical coming from a leafs fan lol

Honestly if we can get a goalie that can steal us games, and maybe 1 more Top 4 Defenceman (if Klefbom was healthy we wouldn’t need one), I actually think this is a cup contending teams.

Unlike other years, we’re winning games without production from McDavid and Draisaitl. Our D is finally adding some offence and limiting chances. If we can get a top 10 goalie, I’m sure we can contend with anybody the way we’re playing this year

If it was Lavoie, Bear, Koskinen and the 1st rounder I’d still do it LOL.

Neal for Henrique would just be a sweetener at that point.

Kosk is an average goalie in this league - wouldn’t say brutal nor would I say he’s Gibson. Henrique and Neal both just cleared waivers LOL. Henrique actually has an extra year left on that contract. It’s not like I didn’t add anything of value (Benson, Samorukov, and 1st rounder)

Perhaps you should watch the ducks play sometime instead of trying to say Neal, who can barely skate, is anywhere close to Rico. As for “sending value”, sure.
