Not saying the value of the trade isn't fair. But geez Kerfoot has been playing well at 3C, and the Leafs have lots of LWers.

Kerfoot's played LW beside Tavares and Nylander the last 2 games for a reason. He's bad at centre.

There's a ton of value in getting a 3C of Tierney's quality at that price with the extra year. Not dissimilar to what the Lightning did with Blake Coleman.

Having a value 3C like that also allows the team to comfortably move Kerfoot to LW where he is more effective, and let's them put a serious weapon like Hyman on the 3rd line. A move like this makes a very strong team way deeper overall, and would be well worth a 1st that will be in the early to mid 20s.
