hawks will trade big Z AND retain, but they don't want either of Mete or Poehling. They have their own Mete/Poehling. How about swap those two out for a 2021 2nd?

I wld like to understand the thought process behind this. Why would montreal go after an aging veteran C who's slowing down considerably and not really known for his defensive awareness, for their one and only shutdown C?

I agree, I really believe MTL will be keeping Danault. KK and Suzuki are not ready to face the defensive challenge that Danault is taking on, and they cannot compensate by scoring more goals.

Danault doesn’t score much and he’s asking for too much money and term for what makes sense for us. Getzlaf can still play and can be extended probably on a one year deal. Less risk (ironically) in Getzlaf than Danault.

For just this season or beyond? How much would be the max you’d pay both in cap hit and term?

It’s not up to Anaheim, it’s up to Getzlaf, the team made that clear. Don’t expect much in return, he’d be picking his destination.

He'll probably sign around 5.5M (probably lower now) and around 5 to 6 years. Cap will have to go down for more years.

How about straight up for Tatar right now? You’re getting the better player, but we’d be getting cap space that you can’t bank cuz of LTIR. Probably makes sense for both teams.

That’s what you think he’ll get from Bergevin or from another team?
What would be the max that you’d offer if you were Bergevin?

The Hawks should not be going for pending UFAs IMO. If they find themselves in 2nd or maybe 3rd place at the TDL...maybe, but I'm still not a fan of it. I like the hawks. I like the direction they're going. They're not contenders. Get picks/prospects from any team.

Sorry, I guess that wasn’t clear. Tatar specifically because he can likely be flipped for more picks at the deadline than Zadorov.
