Probably takes another pick like a second but it’s a good base. What do you think?

No it takes a prospect like Heinola or Perfetti instead of Harkins

I do agree it takes more than just a 2nd. But they’re not getting Heinola or Perfetti for a guy who likely ends up being a 1.5 year rental.

Most id do as the Jets is Samberg + Harkins + 1st.

1.5 years is not a rental. That's a short term investment and also when a contract is at peak trade value

1.5 years isn’t long term either. It’s not going to get you heinola or perfetti lol

1 year of Pacioretty got Suzuki, Tatar and a 2nd. Forsberg, who is a better player than Patches, can definitely get Heinola or Perfetti

Lol no, Forsberg is an awesome player and I agree it’ll take more but nobody is paying that price

And it’s extremely easy to see who won that trade

Tatar was coming off 6 points in 20 games, not worth his cap hit at all and Suzuki’s ceiling was nowhere close to what it is now

And there was an extension with Vegas in place already

Who won the trade exactly? Patches is an excellent fit for Vegas' top line and a ppg player? Tatar came in to Montreal and was great until this year while Suzuki was a high caliber prospect (but has since exceeded expectations)

I mean it’s a fair deal to this day, however, Suzuki was no where near the player he is now (in fact he was a bubble guy who made team Canada at the wjc) and Tatar was sent as a reclamation project. Hence, you aren’t getting top prospects like heinola or perfetti. Maybe Samberg but doubt the jets are willing to move him. Vesalainen could replace harkins but I honestly don’t want him if he costs much more. Doubt he’ll sign in Winnipeg anyway.

Easily MTL

Tatar turned around his career, from being close to a cap dump to posting comparable numbers to Patches the past few seasons on lower cap hit and a weaker team (younger as well) definitely not the player Vegas traded

Suzuki’s ceiling was lower then Glass’s at the time of the trade... at top 6 center maybe

And the only reason Vegas was willing to give that much was because there was already a extension in place with Patches

How is it easily Montreal? Patches had 32 goals and 66 points last year, this year he is just under a PPG. The trade was really close to fair

Suzuki's 21......, with the higher ceiling.. Patches is 32....

Patches will think bout retirement in a few years while Suzuki would just be entering his prime

and thats not even counting the impact Tatar has in MTL

Even if we have to add a prospect or a pick to the Savard/DeMelo, I do it! But that would mean Chevy has to admit to his mistake by signing DeMelo to that contract in the first place.

Yeah because he greatly exceeded expectations, Vegas 100% does that trade every time even if given a redo

If I’m them I wouldn’t... the trade back then made sense but seeing it unfold now it hurts for them

And 21 year old top 6 center who has the potential to become an elite #1.. or a 32 year old top line winger.... which sounds better popcorn

But nope it Vegas knew Suzuki would turn out like this they NEVER would’ve done the trade... not a chance, rather given Glass

Hindsight's 2020 Im saying if we went back in time and they got a chance to think about it more they still 100% make that trade
