No way a less profitable team like Nashville retains salary on both players like that. Nashville could get more by trading Ekholm and Forsberg separately than what you've offered up here. Why do the leafs go out an acquire Ekholm to play third pair minutes? If he doesn't then all of a sudden we have either Rielly or Muzzin playing third pair minutes. Doesn't make sense.

Staal will fetch a higher pick and/or a prospect with more value than brooks. we traded 2nd rounders in years past for 4th line centers at the trade deadline.

Detroit's not eating $4 million on Forsberg for Engvall and a 2nd and 4th round pick, That's not nearly enough. No freaking way Detroit's helping out Toronto for Engvall and late picks.

First never said that Ekholm was a plug I think he is a good defenseman. But look at the the resources you are giving up to get Forsberg another forward. Then take a look at some of the other Toronto ACGM quite a few of them have no defensemen at all. The ACGMs that have a defensemen also have Toronto spending more on a forward.
