Thats a bad deal for Toronto. Valuewise maybe good, but literally getting rid of all RD prospect depth is ridiculously bad.

Detroit passes, We're not helping out Toronto here by retaining on Forsberg for a measly 2nd round pick.

Ya, I'd hate to take a 2nd round pick from a division opponent to retain for 2 years you arn't going to be competitive in anyway. Your statement makes no sense.

My statement makes perfect sense, No team is retaining $4 million on a player for only a 2nd round pick sorry dude but retaining $2 million for 2 years cost more then a late freaking 2nd round pick.

You arn't retaining 4 million. You are retaining $3,000,000($1500000x2. Put it in your calculator if you are having trouble). The comparable for it would be the Brassard trade from Ottawa to Pittsburgh in 2018 in which Vegas retained around the same amount for a 4th round pick and Ryan Reeves. This is a trade with precedent. Saying Detroit would outright refuse it has no ground to stand on.

I guess I should get into why this trade doesn't work for the Leafs since you liked my reply to his nonsense.

The expansion draft is a major obstacle for the Leafs and this trade and is why they are looking for a rental, not a player with term. Having Forsberg for the extra season means we'd have to choose between him and Holl for the protection spots (a 7-3-1 vs a 4-4-1). Thats not going to be an easy choice and one of those players is the cost not shown here for this trade.

You obviously don't know how retention works? Forsberg makes $6 million on his cap hit. Between both Detroit and Nashville they can't retain more then 50% of his cap so that's basically Detroit and Nashville retaining $1.5 million each so Toronto would get his cap hit at $3 million which is 50% of his $6 million cap hit. Forsberg is worth more then what you're offering and i'm still sorry but Detroit basically eating $3 million for 2 years for a late 2nd round pick need to add another 2nd or prospect to the deal.

I think I would pick Forsberg 100% of the time. Holl has been great but maybe we can make a deal to Seattle to not take him - happened a lot in the past. Leafs look best as they have been but against a weak North division hard to match them to the other top teams. This trade is 100% win the cup this year kind of trade.

Nah. Detroit's not interested in late 2nd's to help the Leafs become an absolute powerhouse.
