I just don’t see how this benefits the Sabres. I’d hope they ask for Byfield. And even if they can’t get that done, why are Sabres trading away an elite center and taking on bad contracts in return. No way. Horrible.

I think Turcotte will be a decent middle 6 C and ****emo is a top 6 winger, Quick and Brown are NYers with a ton of leadership, something that has been absent for a while. I also didnt even speculate on a Hall or Staal trade, and would probably look to move out Reinhart as well for more assets, they would probably look at available centers as well, knock Arttu down 1

We don't want Eichel, but if we did i doubt the trade would look like this.

If Buffalo asked for Lafreniere AND Kakko from the Rangers like reported they will ask for Byfield.

I would imagine the asking price would look something like this:

Byfield, Turcotte, and a 2021 1st round pick.

Kings decline that and a deal is never made and we all go on with our lives.

Pretty sure I've seen that they've already expressed interest in Eichel. They would have to know how expensive he would be so that clearly isnt a deterrent

After all the hype around Byfield coming to LA, he's not getting traded. Brown is also not being traded.

I could see a trade being built around Vilardi, Turcotte, Carter, and a 1st. A piece or two could be added, but nothing else top-tier. If that's not enough to get it done, then Eichel isn't coming to LA.

Sigh. For the 10k time...no he wouldn't. He never said that, and he directly refuted those rumors to the media.

Then, just as we were about to move on, with a very serious facial expression and a near death stare back, Carter added, “And I never talked about retiring either. That never came out of my mouth.”

If he was traded to Buffalo, your missing extremely important context

Carter has been playing well this year. He has one more year on his contract after this season, after which he can choose to play wherever he wants. If he retires because he doesn't like Buffalo, he's throwing away his last chance at one more Cup run with the team of his choosing.

Alternatively, he could suck it up for one year in Buffalo, collect his $2M paycheck, hope to get traded as a rental at the deadline, then sign wherever he wanted in July 2022.

Any "Jeff Carter will retire if traded" comments are baseless and unlikely to occur given where Carter is in his career. He's not ready to hang up the skates yet.

I would imagine they’d like to keep both hall and Staal. I don’t think Adams wants a complete tear down. I think reino could be someone he looks to move though.
