trying to find some powerplay lines that can maybe score a goal or 2

Created by: Borocop
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 22, 2021
Published: Feb. 22, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
PP1 has dadonov in the slot with tim on the left wall, brannstrom up top, dzingel on the right wall and brady down low and in front of the net. Let brannstrom and tim distribute to some shooters off that left side. Can switch out dzingel for norris if you want.
PP2 gives chabot, norris and batherson their one timer strong sides. Threw nick paul out there because i like his puck retrevial ability and hes a big guy I think could play infront of the net, white can sit down low and make a couple passes.

Theyre like 0/23-24 over their last bunch of powerplays, somethings gotta give

The PP looked really good last night... Just a matter of time before it's starts going in again.

Don't think Dzingle brings much to the PP.... I might have him on PP2

Also, you got to keep Batherson on PP1.. Wayy tooo much skill and vision to have play the last 30 seconds of a Powerplay

I like Brannstrom on PP1, but I'm going to keep banging the two D on the top unit drum until DJ tries it. Brannstrom's skillset is better suited to being the top point man, but Chabot would be more effective on the halfwall in the one timer spot. He's got one of the nastiest shots in the entire NHL, and I feel like it isn't used to its full potential as a scoring option from up on the point (I believe he only has something like 2 powerplay goals in his career). Chabot has the ability to be one of those freak Dmen who can score 20 goals in a season, and putting him there can help him get there.

I would load up the top unit. Tkachuk as the netfront guy, Chabot right wall, Stützle left wall, Dadonov bumper spot and Brannstrom the point guy. Gives you the most dangerous possible 1st unit, and still leaves plenty of forward talent available for the 2nd unit. Only potential concern is no regular C on that unit, but Brady is usually the faceoff guy anyway on the PP.

PP2 would be Batherson and Norris on the left and right walls, White as the bumper guy, Paul as netfront guy (or Dzingel once he gets here) and whichever one of Reilly or Wolanin is in the lineup as the Point guy.

Agree with Dzingel. Solid player, but he doesn't have the high level talent to play top unit ahead of other forwards. Great complimentary talent and would fit well as a PP2 guy, but lacks the shot, vision and passing abilities of guys ahead of him like Stützle, Dadonov Norris etc. His speed would definitely be an asset on zone entries though.

Biggest thing is keeping players from playing the full 2min. Switch it first time puck leaves offensive zone after 45sec, then back to pp1 after 45 sec of pp2.

No one on this team should be playing the full 2min - that's Ovechkin-level shooters only to me.

Biggest thing they need is more & faster movement. Rotation, crossing through the slot, all kinds of other single and multi-player movement patterns out there. A player and puck showing up same time is better than player waiting for puck.

If want pp help oilers got chiasson and Neal could get one of them for next to nothing and either one is capable of having a significant impact on pp.

Already tried Chiasson - but I don't think they'll be looking at additional bad salary, they have enough.

Yeah I agree!

I am happy they were able to pick him up, especially for that speed.

He’s not bad salary tho... excellent net front presence on pp and smart 5-5 depth player. Does a lot of little things right makes very very few mistakes. Excellent depth veteran presence. Neal I can understand salary concerns but not chiasson he provides enough to justify salary.

If it was good salary no one in Edmonton would want to trade him. He didn't show much more than replacement level when he played for Ottawa before, I think it looks like his production in Edm a product of who he's played with. In any case, no reason for Ottawa to trade for pending UFA unless it's part of moving similar out.

net front presence isint really the problem imo, just dont have the right attacking mentality or the shooters from the perimeter to be super dangerous
