What would a fair trade for Jake Virtanen look like

Created by: sensonfire

Description
2 weeks ago, Elliotte Friedman mentioned on his 31 thoughts podcast that the Sens had interest in Virtanen.

Does Virtanen have positive value in which the Sens would pay something to acquire Virtanen?

Or does Virtanen have negative value in which the Canucks are the ones paying the Sens to take him off their hands?

How much value or upside does Virtanen still have and what would a fair trade look like?

Let me know your thoughts :)

He’s probably worth a 5th. Vancouver might not move him for that but you can likely have him for a 3rd max.

I don’t think the Canucks would pay to move him, but I’m sure you could have him for essentially free. However, if I’m Ottawa, I’d stay away, and give ice time to other younger and better players.

I wouldn't bother. He's better than Watson, but he isn't pushing any forwards out of the top 9, and he isn't suited to playing on the 4th line. Don't really see a spot for him, and it's only going to get more difficult for him as more young forwards come into the lineup.

I think a mid round pick. Last offseason probably cost at least a 2nd

Agreed. Let the current team grow together (Bad games and good), and re-asses in the offseason. I don't think I'd do much right now if I were the Sens GM, other than sell off a couple of minor pieces.

I agree. Already have Dzingel coming in a week or so, I don't think adding a forward really makes sense. Should be looking to gage the market for the pieces who won't be sticking around. Stepan, Coburn, Reilly, Logan Brown, possibly Tierney. Then get a couple of young guys up to fill the spots.

I wouldn't be opposed to the Sens picking up a responsible defensive LD with a year or two left after this season. Would be nice to have someone steady to mentor JBD once he turns pro, though I'm sure there will be options for that in free agency so there’s no need to make a huge trade or anything.

canucks need another top 4 dman to take constant pressure on Hughes, so ottowa has no one we need.i hope we use Jake as part of a trade for a top 4 dman. In my opinion
