Jets trade is garbage. Two pending UFA's for a 2nd and Demelo? I wouldnt trade a 2nd for both those guys. putting Dizingel on the top line is pretty funny too. Maybe he fits, but the jets have a lot of options before he would go there

Because I am not a DeMelo fan, mostly because he is a 3rd liner and he is making too much for too long, I would trade DeMelo straight up for Gudbrunson.

Demelo has struggled but I think he'll get better.
Hamonic has played big minutes in this league with talented dmen, maybe pairing him with Morrisey works out? I dont know

The DeMelo trade was somewhat based on his popularity in Ottawa and the belief that $3M can be better spent by the Jets. It also would allow them to protect Stanley which at the timing of DeMelo's signing wasn't a consideration.

The assumption was that only the Sens and Canucks would be out of contention in the Northern Division by the TDL. Dzingel and Gudbranson are the only real assets on expiring contracts that might fit with the Jets' needs. I remember on the 2018 run, they had 8 NHL caliber Dmen and needed all of them in the playoffs. I was including DeMelo because I think $3M could be better spent and allows the team to protect Stanley from expansion.

I am one that is happy how Stanley is playing this year. All I see is steps forward and none back. I don't mind being proved wrong as I had written him off as a full time NHLer.
