Colorado with Malkin! That is one good center depth if they are all healthy. They are definitely accepting that!

I'm a firm believer that Malkin is not worth as much as people think, but he's probably worth more than that without 1/2 retention

That's the problem, I've made many mock Malkin trades and everyone always says that It is too much or too little value for him. I was originally going to make it Jost and a 1st for Malkin 50% retention, and then I thought that the perception would be that it was too much. I am however going to change it to that after reading the comments,

Vancouver expect more for Virtanen.
Dallas probably takes that at this point.
I think McCann is worth a bit more than Mittelstadt.
Malkin is still worth more than that, and COL cannot afford that anyways.
Vesalainen is not worth Dumo, 2nd +.

I've seen a lot of VAN fans tell me that the price for Virtanen is a 3rd, but I added the 5th because In my opinion he is basically a cap dump at this point with some upside.
I feel like BUF would need to "win" this trade in order to move Mittelstadt, because we have seen teams wait too long to move on from players of similar value, like Lias Andersson, and their value is lower due to that waiting, which is why I didn't add more value for the Pens.
I feel like Pens fans (me included) overvalue Dumo which is why I added the 2cnd, 6th, and Aberg to slightly make up for that.

I really like Mittelstadt for McCann. The only issue is the salary cap. But Buffalo can totally make that work with other moves.

The only reason Honka is still with Dallas is because Nill was stubborn & didn't get a 3rd round pick for him last year. He's not going to settle for a 7th. Nill has proven (no matter how stupid it is) that he isn't settling for a low pick for Honka. He'll either hold him until his rights expire in a few years, or he'll somehow convince a team to give up a mid round pick for him.

I’m genuine wondering, why did he put him on waivers then, even in COVID times it’s not certain that he would have cleared?

Dumo is kinda expendable at this point because you need to play POJ and Peterson because of their ages and potential, and Matheson because of his cap hit (+Matheson has been playing pretty well as of late and may become a solid to great bottom 4 defenseman).

I also think that Vesalinen will play great with Sid.

We had something like 9 rostered defensemen prior to the season, so I think Nill was banking on the fact that teams were going to avoid him due to his attitude & lack of offensive production. Tbh, I’m surprised a team didn’t take a chance on him.
