Fair valuation of Braun, just not sure Sharks would do it. Unless Burns is paid somewhere, Karlsson Burns Merkley is the RD for the next 5 years

I figured he wouldn't be an awful option as a 7 and it's not too much money to have sit there for a year

Is there any chance Philly elects to protect JVR over Voracek? Also, would Seattle even want JVR or Voracek's contracts without any sweetners?

They're the same age, JVR's deal goes $7M to 2023, Voracek's deal goes $8.25M to 2024. JVR underperformed last year and is a streaky player, but his contract is clearly more team-friendly than Voracek's looking toward to the future. He's had a hot start, and Voracek's play has been average ( no expert but a personal take on the couple games I've watched this year). I know Voracek has been a major part of the Flyer's core for a while now, and his value to the team is more than on-ice but if JVR keeps this up would you rather have the extra $1.25M in space and $7M off the books a year earlier? Flyers have some big contracts expiring in the next couple years including Myers and Lindblom the same year as JVR comes off.

Press might be going into a rebuild, I doubt they trade Fabbro unless they feel he hasn't lived up to expectations(I wouldn't know) I don't think that's the kind of move a rebuilding team would make.

Frost hasn't been able to hold a spot in the lineup for 2+ seasons despite being what I thought was "ready" I could be wrong, but either way it will cost more than Frost and a 3rd.

I mean sure there is a possibility that JVR is protected over Voracek but I think JVR might be more enticing than Voracek for the reasons you mentioned. The interest in taking either of them comes from 1. they need to meet the cap floor so taking on a bigger contract won't be a huge deal 2. they're both good players that can play in your top 6 and produce Voracek is a 60 point guy most seasons and JVR is a 25 goal guy most seasons. I think JVR is the more realistic option of being taken of the two and the other options on the team will be players that you can find in most organizations. Scott Laughton will be a UFA so he won't be selected. Ghost, Hagg , and Braun probably won't be the pick. Sure Aube-Kubel could very well be the pick but again I think you find a player like him else where while you can find a "top" player available on this team. I think JVR is the best option that will be available and sure it helps the team cap wise but they're still losing a good player
