No offence, this doesnt even touch Gibson in terms of what the Ducks would want. It would take Nylander plus plus just to get the conversation started.

Goalie trade value is a tough thing to figure out. Gibson is one of the best in the league (the best IMO) and signed through his prime. He is easily worth all of that package to TOR, and the Ducks are in a weird situation where the only thing keeping them from a clear bottom 3 tank job is Gibson... so I think it's interesting. But I also don't think the Ducks will trade their franchise goalie until they've seen Dostal in the show. Small gripe but retaining (even 800k) for 6 yrs is not something that the Ducks would do, they are pretty tight with their money. In terms of value, I think the Ducks deserve a proven piece as part of the deal, just so they don't risk ending up with nothing. So I'd think they ask for Nylander as the big piece and see what happens.

thanks for that smile
the 800k can be navigated with contract negotiations and the like but i recognize that's not the main issue here
nylander is certainly a heavy cost to give up but i guess they could trade nylander and then simply go after someone in FA to replace willy for the next 2-3 years and keep amirov in that case.
how does nylander + liljegren + 2nd/3rd sound?

Not enough IMO. Gibson is a top 3 goaltender in the league and has managed to be consistent for years, despite playing on one of the worst teams in the league. I don't see Anaheim trading him, but if they were, it would likely cost 3 top end pieces and a lesser piece or two.

That doesn’t get you Gibson. You’re trading for an elite goalie on a killer contract, you gotta give up something special, a prospect a pick not a guy running out of prospect runway, a late 1st or a guy that was just drafted 15th overall. Feels like quantity over actual quality.

I know it's not the main reason for the post but Vegas would never trade a 2nd for Kerfoot
