Well the Leafs aren't going to blow up their team for Forsberg. Trading two of their top 9 forwards for one forward, plus a first and two seconds....c'mon no team is going to offer that much.

Forsberg is a high-end talent and that alone justifies his price, but in this case, he's going to Toronto for less than 4M for this year and next. The Leafs have plenty of viable depth options to fill the holes of Kerfoot and Mikheyev. Additionally, the 1st and 2nd will most likely be late in their respective rounds, and Hirvonen isn't exactly an A prospect. This is a more than reasonable price to pay for a player who undoubtedly will give the Leafs the best top 6 in the league.

I think they're all fine, except for the Forsberg and Ekholm trades. I think a better prospect and/or fewer roster dumps from TOR would bring the value closer for NSH. With the Ekholm proposal, I don't feel the (presumably) late picks are enough, with NSH having to take Moore too.

I would tend to agree that a better prospect makes sense from the Nashville side in the Forsberg trade, but above Hirvonen, you have Amirov, Robertson, and Sandin. I doubt the Leafs would give up any of them, which makes guys like Hirvonen and Niemala make the most sense in this scenario.

I don't see Moore as negative value in this case. His contract is manageable and he's more than capable of holding down a roster spot. The Bruins are a tough case here, they don't have any prospects I'm assuming they're willing to part with (Beecher, Studnicka, Vaakanainen), and the prospects they probably are comfortable with losing, aren't particularly great. That's why I think getting those picks is the best choice, rather than getting nothing.

NSH doesn't have to trade him to BOS though. Many other teams would be interested, and it's not like the Preds HAVE to trade Ekholm at the deadline. Better to keep him for now and be patient, rather than take an undesirable deal, just for the sake of making a trade.

Fact is the Leafs don't have a viable option at centre if Kerfoot is traded. Mikheyev adds a lot to the Leafs with his heavy play. Can't Forsberg be traded to any other team besides the Leafs/ Seems to be a CapFriendly obsession that the Leafs, and only the Leafs HAVE to trade for good to very good player and give up futures and important players from their first place team

A second round pick for a broken Haula? The guy is a shell of his former self.
