one of Mercer or Jarvis would need to be involved

edit: Mercer is a NJD guy, not CAR -- my bad -- probably Suzuki in his place but not quite sure as NSH would ask for a legit A prospect in any Forsberg deal

That is not happening. Right now Jarvis himself is showing better upside then Forsberg has. Suzuki might move the needle for Carolina, but I strongly suggest researching Jamieson Rees, he's a very underrated prospect and probably a top 3 prospect in the organization right now.

The ask for Forsberg will likely be a 1st + 2nd/3rd + A prospect + B prospect -- I can't see them going any lower than that, but I could see them going higher. I'd honestly rather just keep Forsberg.

Go for it then, but at 6 Million, you're not getting that. A 1st, 2nd roster player and a spec? That I can see. There's just not enough available cap space to create a market to take on that 6 million dollar deal.

There are ways to even cap across trades -- I don't think it's as difficult as you're implying (especially since NSH has quite a bit of cap space). And if NSH decides to really blow it up and retain some salary then they could get even more.

I think you will find they'd have to eat half that deal to get back what you're asking. There's no market for a 6 million dollar player in a flat cap league when cap space is at a premium like this. Poile isn't dumb. Forbserg has 2 years left which means he needs to be moved this year to really get a good haul for him because rental prices always drop. In a Normal year, 1st, 2nd, a spec and a cap move player likely doesn't cut it. Fair enough, but in a year like this... he already can't go to Canada, because they wouldn't get their player until the playoffs, which already drops the market down to 23 teams. Cap strapped teams, and teams with great forwards won't be interested, that knocks out the contenders in the East and West. Maybe Florida could make the cap worlk, but with their key free agents this off season, probably not.

You're going to get a reduced return for this player is my point

6 mill is cheap for a 1st liner

Doesn't matter. Find a contender that can just throw 6 mil at a player without wondering about the ramifications this off-season or next without making any other moves.

Also, I don't think Forsberg is a 1st liner on a contender. He's too streaky. 2nd line guy, probably? Can he step in if there's injuries, for sure. He doesn't get onto the perfection line in Boston, he doesn't get into the top line in Colorado, or Vegas, Doesn't break up the Point Stamkos Palat line in Tampa.

Stone and Kane have played on the 2nd line for the longest time. Doesn’t make them not 1st line players

Forsberg isn't that talented though. He's not a 1st line talent. In Carolina, he's not better than Svechnikov or Teravainen. In Vegas, Stone or Pacioretty. Colorado, Landeskog or Rantanen. Boston, Marchand or Pastrnak. Tampa, Kucherov or Stamkos. The only contender I could see he might be a top-line winger is Philadelphia, and that's a major if.

Forsberg and Turbo are about equal. You’re just very biased which is ok

Yeesh, some of the takes here...

Forsberg IS a top line forward. He IS an equal player to Teravainen, and while Svechnikov may end up better than Forsberg in the long run, they are quite comparable at the moment.

$6M is cheap for a 1st liner with another year of term. He will command a king’s ransom if he is traded. Rees + Foegele + 1st, while a good package, is no where close to getting a player like Forsberg. I wouldn’t trade Jarvis for him, would trade Suzuki and this year’s 1st, not sure of the additional roster player, would prefer to send back more cap, but can’t really think of who else to send.

Fleury for a 3rd is ridiculous. Why not just keep him, if that’s all he’d return?

You're probably going to have to give up more than that for someone like Filip Forsberg. I liked Rees back during the DY, but he can't be the main piece in a deal for Forsberg. The late 1st and 2nd aren't really going to move the needle either.

Nope, TT's better defensively, while they have equal offensive upside, making TT better.

His GSAA is actually decent, and while not better than Mrazek or Nedeljkovic in their limited sample sizes, it's an improvement on reimer. It also saves 400,000 to make a potential move elsewhere.
