Description
I can't see the Bruins making that big of a splash at the deadline this year, because of they were interested in acquiring a big fish, the offseason would have gone much differently. I can see them getting one of these dman and maybe one of these forwards.

Nemeth or Virtanen maybe. Rest. Not likely.

Nash and NJ will be primary hunting grounds. Ekholm, Granlund, Murray, Palmieri.

But this might be a year to just stand pat.

I agree, if they want to test the young dman, give them a chance to play in the playoffs. Cause adding a larger piece won't win this team a cup as other teams are just deeper than they are at the end of the day. Let this team make a run and hope for the best, re-evaluate in the offseason

Hey! We're not out of it yet.

(but when we are, I don't think Boston/NJ match up well on a deadline deal)

Also, to the op, I wouldn't touch Edler right now.

The two should have completed a Palmieri Deal last year. It made too much sense and I can't believe it didn't happen. My guess is if Ray Shero was GM come the deadline it would have happened...

After Coleman and Hall trades KP was priced out of reach.

Bruins should have added Fitzy jr as a sweetener!!

I think the hang-up was Backes and Devils didn't want him included.
Boston needed that salary dump to clear space.
I believe Devils were asking for Bjork/Heinen/1st for Palms.
And recall reading something where Fitz loved Bjork....so I guess Bjork/pick could be plausible this time around.

I believe it was also a salary thing and NJD wouldn't take Backes in deal.
I mentioned above, I recall Bjork/Heinen/1st as a rumored package...who knows how real that was.

It was really only Boston and Calgary getting in the weeds on Palms, so maybe it was other teams feeling priced out. Who knows.

Completely disagree. This is probably the final chance to win the Cup with this core.

They have a couple more years. The team they have is good enough to win without help, depending on health. They need to start holding onto picks and prospects for after those couple of years. Cupboard is pretty bare. If the right deal is there sure. But don’t trade just to do something.

Agreed. I don’t know if this is the final chance, but it is a great chance especially without having to take on Tampa early on. The Bruins have given the young D plenty of opportunity and they have another 7 weeks until the deadline too. But then you have to make a deal imo. The inexperience, health concerns, and simply the lack of talent on the left side has to be addressed if they want a real shot at winning the Cup. I’m more comfortable standing pat up front, especially if Kase returns before the deadline and looks 100%. But I might look to add some scoring depth there as well.

I think the Bruins just lost their top rental option in Jake McCabe. And with Winnipeg playing well Derek Forbort is probably off the table too. As others have said, I’m not sure Edler is actually available. Arizona’s big names - Hjalmarsson and Goligoski - are off to a slow start but remain possibilities. I could see Montour or Oleksiak as well. But at this point I would go all in on Ryan Murray. I think he would be a perfect fit with McAvoy.

Again, at forward I don’t care as much.
Give me someone with an offensive skill set who is a top-nine replacement-level player that is affordable to acquire. The hope would be they don’t play a major role anyway.

No, Bergeron is 35 and somehow still elite, Rask 34 in 3 weeks and Marchand 33 and Krejci 35 in the next months, I don't know how many years you think they still have. They may have one more year but it's not even guaranteed.

They won't win if Lauzon is the LD1. Agreed you don't make a move just to do something but a top4 LD is literally the only thing they're missing (personal-wise).

Bergy and Marchy are the keys. As long as they are still playing top level they are fine. They don’t seem to be slowing down. DK and Rask are replacable.
