Yeah I think so too. I don't really like parting ways with Jost, but our bottom 6 simply don't score enough and he would be the obvious choice to move. He's really great defensively and would be a loss for our PK, but we already have Nichuskin playing elite defense with zero offense so there's some redundancy there. Contract-wise I think Jost will see a little pay bump but nothing too dramatic. Adding a 30-35 point 3rd line winger at $1m AAV for 2 playoff runs would be a solid investment.

As for Nashville, Jost would be a nice piece for Nashville in their rebuild, given his age, versatility, and defensive ability. He's also a very hardworking guy and liked in the room, so if culture is an issue in Nashville he's the sort of guy you'd want to be adding to your young group.

Ducks aren’t trading Stolarz. They need him for the expansion draft.

How about Ryan Miller instead then? What's the price?

I think the Staal trade is enough. Jost doesn't score but at least drives play in a positive way. Compher simply needs a change (imo).

A bottom six of Jost, Staal, Donskoi and Nichushkin, PEB, Calvert looks pretty good.

I agree improving that 3C is the most important thing right now but I like what Jarnkrok brings. It would suck to see Jost go but, IMO, adding Staal and Jarnkrok would make that 3rd line more dangerous on the offensive side - the offensive metrics for all those guys listed are pretty bad; Donny has some points but that is masking the fact that he drags everyone he plays with down. Also, his 33% shooting is not going to hold. All-in-all, I think the Avs would be much better with the bottom-6 proposed.

Jarnkrok is also riding an inflated shooting percentage. I think he's a decent player but probably a little unnecessary. 3C would be huge and likely enough.

Yeah, the analytics on Jarnkrok aren't great, either although he plays on a bad team. I would say, IMO, deal with the 3C issue first then see what else you need, if anything.

Jarnkrok's analytics aren't the important thing. He's playing on a terrible team so they aren't going to be great to begin with anyhow.

What's important is that he could be acquired with a $1m x 2 contract and put up 30+ points.

JTC has had some 30+ point seasons and is doing jack squat so far. But, maybe a change of scenery does both Jarnkrok and Compher some good. I think it's a risk worth taking when you're trying to win a Cup.

Better play from 3C (and better puck luck) could get a guy like Nichushkin going. I'm reluctant to have too much turnover, especially if it's a guy like Jost who drives play and is one if the better defensive forwards in the league this year.

I also believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) thank Jarnkrok is playing on their second line. Losing minutes likely means fewer points and then maybe we're back where we started.

Just see where Staal gets things and call it a day. That's my opinion.

Edit: just to be clear, I'm in no way opposed to Jarnkrok. He's good. I just think he may be a lateral move.

There are arguments to made for and against but the bottom line for me is that the 3rd line has been at best ineffective and there are some guys on the regular roster that are acting as an anchor. If the 3rd line could get going, that would give other teams defensive fits and free up the top two lines to score more. I'd prefer to see something done about that 3rd line sooner rather than later.

Anchor is a bit strong, but certainly a couple guys (namely Compher and Donskoi) have not been great 5v5.

Jost and Nichushkin play in such a way that when they aren't scoring it isn't an issue. That's important for the bottom six (imo). Bellemare and Calvert too. Even LOC. Keep those guys for their defense and play driving ability. All they need is 3C.

Jarnkrok is tempting but I don't think he moves the needle in this trade. Staal or another 3C probably does though.

I think if you can get Jarnkrok at $1m x 2 for a cheap price it's something you do as that's phenomenal value. It's like having Donskoi at $1m effectively. He can play anywhere in the lineup and at that caphit you can even afford to stack the lineup and have him on the 4th line if you want (not that he should be below 3rd line but just pointing out the value gives options).

I hear the points but still feel there is a redundancy factor. Donskoi is already the guy who moves up when needed. Nichushkin can as well.

I would trade Compher or Donskoi for Jarnkrok. If something like that works or if they can get him for futures and then move one of those guys in a different trade then great. Keep Nichushkin and Jost though.

I prefer having redundancy in 3rd line forwards who can move up, rather than redundancy in defensive 4th line forwards who can move up to the 3rd line. Neither Nichuskin or Jost can move up to the 2nd line and offer an adequate level of offense.

The lack of bottom 6 scoring this season is also a big issue. Apart from Donskoi our bottom 6 have 6 points at 5v5 between them which is unnacceptably bad.

Jost is a fine 4th liner, but if we're looking to add scoring to the bottom 6 then something has to give, and he (and Compher) are the obvious guys to move. Upgrading on him and moving Compher out would also open up a spot on the 4th line for O'Connor, Kaut, Bowers, etc.

Note that I wouldn't be in favour of moving Jost just for the sake of it as he's a very useful role player to have on the team. But in the right trade I think you do it. Jarnkrok (50%) is one you do imo.
