Would love to. DDK isn't coming back this year. Defense depth is thin for Detroit. Lindstrom and Cholowski are better off in Grand Rapids right now than having to be yoyo'd up and down due to future injuries.

I can definitely see this claim happening, especially with Stecher currently out a couple games. Just adds more ammo for teams calling for depth at TDL.

We also went 11-7 lineup against Florida bc we have better depth D than depth forwards right now. Still, it’d be a good claim.

Oops haha You're right. I didn't watch that game. Last I read about DDK was Blash saying his legs aren't close to what they used to be and he needs more time to train. But still the fact he was back in the lineup when he shouldn't be playing shows how thin we are on Defense Depth. I'd rather put Schenn in there and let DDK rehab further and maybe he's 100% next year.

It’s his back. Not his legs. He’s having lingering back problems that likely won’t ever go away. And no, it shows how much our forwards suck. Blash apparently feels better chance at winning with an extra D and double shifting Larkin. DK probably gets bought out this summer unless LTIR. Tough end for a great guy.

I know he had back surgery. He's having issues with his leg as a result of that back surgery. per Jeff Blashill press conference February 15th.

He had one goal in 10 games before being pulled, and was, as Blashill put it, “playing on one leg.” “Danny is making progress from a strength standpoint,” Blashill said. “He is making from getting a little more power out of his leg and hopefully he can be closer to 100%, to where he can be the type of player that he has been."

I could see Schenn being kept for the year and being a replacement for Nemeth who has more trade value and likely to be moved at the deadline for a better return.

I don’t know about the replacement 1 for 1 since Nemeth plays LD and Schenn play RD as their most comfortable sides. And trade everyone they can at deadline. But yeah, a Schenn signing in offseason could make sense and fits what Yzerman has done so far. Especially if Stecher is lost in draft. And as long as Seider isn’t blocked, which he wouldn’t be.
