The Kings are very happy with Quick and don't need the cap space. They're not going to trade him unless it's in a package for something good. Mittelstadt is not enough incentive for LA to downgrade from Quick to Hutton.

Hutton and Quick have similar numbers over the last few seasons. Hutton hasnt been able to see properly over that time period

Sure, but Quick is LA's franchise leading goaltender in every statistical category, a fan favorite, and currently playing like 2012 Quick. He's going to have his jersey retired in LA, and possibly a statue in front of Staples Center. Don't see why LA would swap him for a mediocre starting goaltender if the only return is a young player that hasn't lived up to expectations.

Numbers aren't everything. He essentially has had one bad game, and one game where his team left him out to dry. The rest of the games he has been solid, if not spectacular. Watch the highlights from his last 3 games and you will be very impressed.

But Hutton didn't spend his entire career and win 2 Stanley Cups with the Kings.

It's not sentimentality. The Kings aren't going to trade a goaltender who can provide leadership and culture to the kids unless they're getting back something in return. Mittelstadt doesn't even begin to cover the gap between Quick and Hutton, even with no retained salary.
