I think Buffalo declines, I haven't watched any Buffalo games this season so I don't know about Jokharju, but I think leafs accept

Nah, Jokiharju hasn't been effective as anything more than a 3rd pairing defenseman. Leafs still have higher hopes than that for Liljegren.

Kind of like how Buffalo is playing Montour on the 2nd pairing rather than Joki even though hes been absolutely terrible. Or how they don't have him on the 2nd PP even though the only thing he does well is move the puck.

Leafs have taken their time with Liljegren and given their success at developing guys, they deserve the benefit of the doubt. Buffalo however has rushed Jokiharju just as they've rushed everyone who they tried to develop in their system. He could have used more time in the AHL.

Jokiharju has been just fine. He had a rough 5 game stretch, but has proven he can beat out zach bogosian atleast

Except Bogosian's numbers have been better than Jokiharju ever since he left Buffalo.

When you get dragged along by Hedman your numbers tend to look okay.

Dermott too apparently. Nothing like defensive stalwart Travis Dermott.

Bogo has only been better than Lehtonen this year of the Leaf D core. Not sure how great that is.

Only offensively. Defensively Jokiharju has been better.

If Bogosian is better than you offensively, I'm going to go ahead and say the divisions being played in are probably skewing the results.

IDK by what metric you are assessing that but its not a good one. If Bogosian wasnt bolstered by Tamps offense they wouldnt have been close, Jokiharju smokes him in defensive numbers. Im sure this year is the same. https://public.tableau.com/shared/XM4J88RMD?:display_count=y&:origin=viz_share_link
Sabres easily pass, Jokiharju has been fine and is progressing well at the NHL level and hes only 21.

Jokiharju was on the 2nd pair tonight, Montour is also supposed to be taking a bigger role than Jokiharju, its not Jokiharju's fault nor Krueger's that Montour is not meeting expectations

The younger D who has been effective as a third pairing D in the NHL over 119 games....now has lower upside than the D who was ineffective in 11 games in the NHL as a 3rd pairing D. Makes sense.

Their great success of developing 17 minutes a game at age 21 Dermott into 11 minutes a game at age 24 Dermott? (and a track record of zero success with their D draft picks for years).

Joki had played 38 games for Chicago at age 18. Buffalo, who is terrible at development, made the only right call by playing him in the NHL. The Leafs' made a massive mistake burying Sandin after playing him 28 games in the NHL as a teenager last year.
