Drop Dumba, just because hes overrated not even factoring in that the Sabres dont need him, and add Kaprizov

Dumba is an asset though, you could flip him for further assets

So youre putting the onus on Buffalo to make another trade to get fair value for the franchise center they just moved. Doesnt make sense

So in different summary: sabres get a dman they don't need, another middle six center they don't need, a player they already tried to play in the system that failed, first round picks that won't make an impact for a few years, and one prospect. No.

No my point was, view him as an asset, not as a long term solution. What is Dumba’s individual value? Maybe another first and a good young forward, or prospect? Any player acquired in a deal is an asset and worth something. It doesn’t take rocket science to figure that out.

An Eichel trade is going to create a trade tree. That you hope goes on

Maybe a third team gets involved and it’s a scenario like the Ballard trade where Reinprecht is acquired and your new asset is flipped and never plays a game with the Sabres and is packaged in a deal with Warrener for Drury.

In this particular scenario, you hope Dumba never plays a game with Buffalo.

Having said that. Buffalo declines this trade simply because Minnesota does not have the assets to make a deal for Eichel, IMO. They can add Kaprizov , and it still wouldn’t be enough in return

Minnesota is also slotted to draft 19th and 22nd as of today

They do have the assets, it would start with Rossi tho. Add from there and could be done. Hopefully the kid recovers nicely, I think he’s going to be great

To add Dumba the Sabres a giving up a good young forward coming from Minnesota, solely to Minnesota's benefit. If its a 3 team trade, that has an already established return, that makes sense, but thats not this scenario so I cant comment on that

I love Marco Rossi, but I actually just posted on another TE thread about Ristolainen, Rossi just got shut down due to COVID complications. If this ends up being a long term complication that lingers, there’s a chance he could never regain form, and that could also be true for Ristolainen. We have no idea what will happen with their recovery but as of right now, a trade for Rossi is a major gamble

Yep that’s what I meant by hope he recovers. I mean, he would have to be included in any deal imo

Rossi had severe complications following COVID. His future is uncertain right now, so I included Boldy instead. I agree Rossi has better up side, but who knows if/when he'll be ok.

Yep, totally understand. Rossi is still the play for me. He has mid range 1C upside that can’t be ignored

Boldy, JEE, and Kaprizov are the untouchables (even for Eichel) in MN for me; Fiala is close to untouchable too. If a trade can be worked out without trading one of the players I won't trade, great. If it can't then I won't lose any sleep.

Eichel is a great player but MN can't just be a 1 line team.

I'll be interested to see what Eichel draws in return. I get that BUF will be targeting the top players of the other team, but I'd think it would be more like a Laine (experienced scorer) rather than a KK (young, huge future) in return.

Also, I agree that the Wild don't have a Laine-style player and I can't see them trading KK or Fiala. But especially KK. If they traded him, the torches and pitchforks would come out here. So I'm guessing we can't work this out between MIN and BUF.

Evander Kane with Bogosian back in 2015 fetched Joel Armia, Drew Stafford, Tyler Myers, Brendan Lemieux, and a first (Roslovic)

And Duchene ultimately returned Colorado V.Kamanev, Girard, Bowers, a first and a second

Players like Eichel rarely come free and with his age, term, and elite status, he will obviously return more. It will be like the Duchene trade on steroids and it will be meant to rebuild the franchise

Colorado got Girard, Bowers, Kamanev, a first (Byram) a second and a third in 2018. And that was Duchene one year away from his contract, older and not as talented as Eichel.

Buffalo likely gets a young roster player or two, top prospect or two, a first, second, and third or maybe a second first rounder. And the team that acquires him would probably be a team on the rise looking to take the next step. A team with a deep prospect pool that might be picking lottery in the top ten

If it’s the NYR for example, I’d say the return would be something like Buchnevich, Chytil, Kakko, a 2021 first and 2022 or 23 first and a second

That context helps alot. Thank you. There is absolutely no way the Wild will get him. Buffalo must be crushed that they might lose him at all with his production and age.

Not necessarily.....one player doesn’t make up a team and Eichel will fetch assets to rebuild the franchise
