Description

What would it cost to acquire the below players? I think the Islanders need a 3rd line LW and a two-way LHD. A lot of the players acquired will need to be with retained salary to get the Isles cap compliant.

Really pleasantly surprised with Tobias Rieder. Not flashy or anything but plays with effort and doesn't make a ton of mistakes. No idea what he'd cost but I'd like to keep him for another year if I could. Having said that though we undoubtedly will offload him now.

It's too bad McCabe got hurt because I would've loved to get him and Rieder in a deadline deal. I'd give up a 4th for Rieder, but I think it may take more (unless BUF is willing to take on Hickey, in which case I'd give up a 3rd+ with him).

I'd be fine trading for mete , iafallo, or Tatar. The rest don't make sense for the isles. Either a top 6 player to move Bailey down or a D to replace greene. Doesn't make sense to trade for any 3rd line players - Dal Colle and wahlstrom are already great 3rd line caliber players.

I think we need an upgrade on MDC to play regularly with Pageau. I'm not an MDC fan in terms of a guy who can provide offense, he's providing nothing and I have no problem giving him up, even if he succeeds elsewhere. You wouldn't want someone like Sanford or Johansson? Basically from a forward perspective, I want a guy who can seamlessly swap with Beauvillier to play on line 2 or 3. I think Bailey and Wahlstrom can do that now.

I disagree on MDC. He'll never live up to where he was drafted, but he is emerging as a solid middle 6 option. When MDC was first called up to play on filpulla's line a few years ago, he changed the dynamic of that line and they scored a bunch of goals and he was driving play. Last season trotz saddled him with brassard and kuhnhackl which pretty much destroyed his confidence and therefore his impact.

If we're going to trade for a forward, it should be for legitimate top 6 guy.

MDC leads all islanders players in on-ice expected goals% . He's been a lot better at driving offense than Bailey.

Some of my favorite options (of the more realistic variety) are Virtanen, Cousins, Jarnkrok, Iafallo and maybe Forbort if the Jets fall out of it.

My dream acquisitions would be Ekholm or Tatar
