McDavid is The League MVP so far this season

Created by: oilersguy
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2021
Published: Feb. 24, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Auston Matthews is a really good player, but the East media pumping his tires that he is the league MVP is completely ludicrous. McDavid does things in games that no one, and I mean no one can duplicate. Comparing Matthews to McDavid is like comparing a Ford Mustang to a lamborghini aventador.

The difference between Matthews and mcdavid isn’t a mustang to a Lamborghini. As far as hart contention goes they are incredibly close.

The East media is for sure pumping him up but I don't believe anyone in the East is discrediting McDavid at all. McDavid is hands down the best player in the league and possibly the best player we will ever see in our lifetime. With that said, so far this year it's fairly safe to say that Matthews is in the convo for Hart discussions, meaning he's playing at a top 3 level. To say that the difference between him and McDavid is that far different is pretty unfair in my opinion. They're both super good, can't we agree on that?

if Hub was in the softest division in hockey, he would certainly get more attention. It will be hard to catch McDavid or Matthews as both are so good already and then in a division that doesn't play defense.

I don’t think it’s an East/West thing as much as Canadian/American thing. One half of the votes come from Canada.

I hate to argue with you over this because it's your opinion but I can't, McDavid is leading the league in scoring, again, he's only 5 goals behind Mathews but 10 points ahead. Hart is most valuable player to their team. McDavid carries the Oilers to more wins then Mathews does. That's a good thing for the leafs, they have more players that contribute to wins.

This is the Crosby Vs Ovechkin debate. Crosby ends up being the better player.
Draisaitl is Malkin and gets no respect from here on out.

Thats a poor narrative the east division is the best and the north is second. Apart from Ottawa every one of the teams belongs in the top 4.

Not defensively. Matthews does it all offence/defence fiala playmaking blocks hits faceoffs. For that reason I think the hart trace will be much closer than oilers fans would like to admit. Mcdavid is certainly the better player but it’s not by a country mile.

Kane is a better candidate because he is literally carrying his team to a playoff spot. McDavid may be the more talented player, but he has other decent players on the team to help him out. Chicago was expected to be with the likes of Detroit this season, and instead they are right in the playoff picture. Certainly if the Blackhawks make the playoffs this year he should be heavily considered for the Hart.

I wouldn’t say that. Couple of young players in the hawks doing some very Kane like things. Bright future there.

North 2nd. that is just silly. Just because the Canadian media says it so doesnt make it so. Outside of the Maple Leafs, the rest of the division would be lucky to be sniffing a playoff spot. they will get 4 in though.

I agree about the bright future, but Kane is the catalyst behind the team doing well and its not something I think is up for debate. If you take Kane off this team then we are near the bottom of the standings.

Take out the young talent and you get the same. Not arguing Kane shouldn’t be considered, to be honest he should always be considered. He’s that good.
