McDavid is The League MVP so far this season

Created by: oilersguy
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2021
Published: Feb. 24, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Auston Matthews is a really good player, but the East media pumping his tires that he is the league MVP is completely ludicrous. McDavid does things in games that no one, and I mean no one can duplicate. Comparing Matthews to McDavid is like comparing a Ford Mustang to a lamborghini aventador.

So Matthews is tied for being the best player in the world and Marner is top 5? I put McDavid, MacKinnon, Pastarnak ahead of him 100%. Kucherov, Panarin, Draisaitl, Marner, Eichel and Kane are on his tier imo. Matthews will cool off in the next few weeks and people will stop comparing him to McD.

No, in hart contention.... very early in the season. Try and keep up.

Yeah, that always happens when I take your arguments apart. Have a nice day, sir.

Like when you said TO wasn't going to be better than Edmonton and your depth was crap. Totally picked it all apart

If Edmonton and Chicago fall out of playoff spots, Matthews wins. Chicago will for sure but I think Edmonton finishes at least 4th

i'm bias because i'm a hawks fan but I think we can sneak in. And Kane should have more value to getting his team in than Mcdavid. Mcdavid clearly has the better roster and is playing in a far worse division

Wrong on both accounts. Your division has Detroit, Nashville and the Hawks. All 3 teams would finish last or 2nd last in the North. Columbus seems to be struggling which always happens after a few years or Torts berating everyone so they are not strong. Tampa isn't as good as last year and that makes Carolina and Florida look better and Dallas just hasn't played much but I don't think they are overly strong either. Hands down the worst division. I think the west is even better, but also bad. Really top heavy. The North has 5 teams that would finish ahead of Chicago easily.

As for Edmonton, their roster is garbage but McDavid is the best player in the world. I think they are a super flawed team and will go no where in the playoffs because of their lack of depth (they have none), poor defence and questionable goaltending. McDavid will win them enough games they shouldn't win to get them in a playoff spot but they'll lose quickly. Chicago will absolutely fall out once Dallas plays more and maybe Columbus turns it around and starts playing better. Either way, the good teams in your division will inflate their records by beating the Hawks, the same way chicago has by beating Detroit

Central has the two teams in the finals last year, plus carolina who is better than everyone in the north, plus florida who is better than everyone in the north other than probably toronto. Toronto is probably 4th or 5th if they are in the central and the oilers would be like 7th. And Mcdavid first of all plays with another MVP canidate in draisitle, plus nuge and nurse. Yes the oilers are flawed but they have some good expierienced players. Imagine if the oilers forard group didn't have nuge and drai.... thats basically equivilant to what kane is working with. Yes rookies have outperformed expectations but it helps that most have played their fair share of time with kane

The season isn't over yet, and you're misconstruing what I wrote anyhow, which was: 'Edmonton has the best offense in the league.' And you're seeing that now - even including their slow start, they're now 2nd in the league with 3.62 GF/GP, right behind the Lightning at 3.63 GF/GP.

no you said edm was the best team in the north, and that anyone who had them coming anything but first is crazy, you also defended zack kassian and tried to say he was a top line winger lol

Nope that is just a pipe dream. Tampa is diminished, Florida is a good team but would still be 4th in the Atlantic, Dallas was good playing against other slow teams in the West. They may not have enough speed to get to the playoffs.

the Oilers Roster is not Garbage just because not every forward scores 20 goals or not every d-man is top pair quality doesn't mean that they don't get the job done and sick and tired of people saying that if you actually watched an Oilers game that wasn't against your team you would know that the Oilers have depth and their goaltended has been great this year and Smith is shutting up his haters when they resigned (including me), the oilers are lots of help on D from lagesson and Bear and Jones and Bouchard(who is looking great). JP is shutting up the haters as well the guys all-round game has got much better and know he is putting the points to show it. THE OILERS HAVE WON TWO GAMES THIS YEAR WIN OUT MCDAVID AND DRAISAITL GETTING A POINT!

That's a stupid argument. If you take Matthews and Marner out of Toronto they're even worse.

Toronto 72 goals minus Matthews + Marner 27 goals = 45 goals
Edmonton 76 goals minus McDavid + Draisaitl 23 goals = 53 goals

lol

The Oilers are at best 2nd in the division but I think will finish 4th. I have more faith in both Winnipeg and Montreal. If Calgary turns it around then you could be in trouble.

Why? Then you'd be basically removing Edmonton's entire top-6, whereas removing Matthews + Marner from the Leafs is only removing 1 line. Apples-to-oranges due to the fact that McDavid and Draisaitl can drive their own lines.

It's a stupid argument. Firstly, the Oilers HAVE McDavid and Draisaitl and secondly, if you took the top-6 out of ANY team they'd be bottom-5 in the league.

No, you said Edmonton is better overall than Toronto, which has aged pretty poorly.
