Looking at Center Options

Description
Genuinely not tied to any of the mock trades below. Rangers need a solid 2C (truthfully 1c cause Zib is sleeping). I think Chytil is a long term goal (Hence why I didnt make any mock trades with him involved) but what to do about the interim. Pay out the wazoo for a Center who most likely wont be on a NYR cup team? Or an upgraded Strome situation? Idk, im just having fun. Not expecting all of these trades to work so disregard the structure of lines who plays with who etc.
Trades
1.
2.
CGY
  1. Lemieux, Brendan
  2. Zibanejad, Mika
Additional Details:
I like Mangi a lot. Reminds me of Fast. Not someone that will wow you but certainly someone who is consistent in their role they are designed for.

As far as Bennett/Zib go....I can almost see this happening as a 1:1 I get the sense that Zib and Beny (great band name btw) are identical players in that they feed off crowd energy...and lack there of has resulted in meh top line centers.

Persistence in this package is low but Zib is FT if the phone rings.
3.
NYR
    Future Considerations/Seattle/2 $5 Footlong Subs
    4.
    COL
    1. Strome, Ryan
    2. 2021 3rd round pick (BUF)
    Additional Details:
Target here is Jost...Strome higher and heftier contract thus need either a contract coming back (not the route id like) but do prefer it over retention.

Pateryn isnt stuck in this package was wary between he and Nichushkin.

Even if you like him, Mangiapane isn't for trade

avs decline, they want nothing to do with Strome, hes not very good at C, and in the 3C spot he would be a disaster

Rangers pretty comfortably decline all these. Maybe Heponiemi gets considered but the addition is on the wrong side,

Thats interesting that you find the Howden/Hepo trade is weighted on the wrong side. I for one wish Barron gets NYR ice time in replacement of Howden. Howden hasnt shown growth/promise/change to either move up a spot off that 4th C position but DQ seems to think otherwise.

FYI Sagecoil is arguably the biggest homer on this site.

Avs decline. Strome's caphit next year doesn't fit into our cap structure. And even if it did we wouldn't want him, because he's terrible and not a 3C.

Not sure what you're saying about Nichuskin in your comment, but if you're implying that his value is similar to Pateryn you're gravely mistaken. Nichuskin has waaaaay higher value than Pateryn who's a glorified capdump really.

    Appreciate the offer though, thanks.

Yeah I mean I don't think the Rangers have contributed in developing any one of their players positively. But at this point Brett Howden is essentially a copy of Sam Steel just with Sam getting favorable everything (linemates, PP time, coaching scheme), aside from that they've been the same exactly player in terms of on-ice effect, defensive acumen, shot generation, etc. Not sure why Ducks fans haven't adjusted their valuation of Steel down or our valuation of Howden up.

As for Heponiemi, he's gonna have the smollboy tag until he can prove he can stick in the NHL with his frame. Which he hasn't been able to do so.

I like Barron but he's not particularly quick, more of a possession power F, and in the context of how the 4th line is deployed in terms of just strictly uncoordinated dump/chase, I'm not sure it's the best environment for him to succeed.
