Oh my goodness, please delete the Pionk trade. Virtanen has been horrible. Pionk has been awesome

Trades looked fair until that last one...Pionk has been absolutely insane this year and last for that matter. He is the Jets #1 defenceman and is one of the top performing defencemen in the league this year...Virtanen has 1 point in 18 games while Pionk has 15 points in 18 games.

I would shrink the BUF package down to not trade for Montour, just Risto (maybe take out Harkins and one of the picks in that case?). Then not do the Van trade. That would improve the Jets imo.

Buff passes, Risto has been solid this year and you're only offering some meh prospects, a depth dman, a cap dump and some meh picks

not ristolainen, just Montour.
Poolman is the only value.
Perreault is added for cap reduction.
Stanley while he is a former first round picks and is very large will probably never play in the NHL.
Harkins is a bottom 6 forward that can be picked up for less then $1,000,000 in free agency.
The two picks are the cost of taking Perreault.
So Poolman for Montour, Brandon is better.

The Pens would pass. They have like 10 D on NHL contracts right now (still have one on IR).

Pionk is an RFA with arbitration rights next year and he is going to want a pay raise. If it goes to arbitration he will get that pay raise. So I make it up by getting the 2 defensemen from Buffalo. Montour is a UFA and from the year he has been having his price tag will drop. He is a young defenseman to help grow with this team. I know everyone is real low on Virtanen but I think he has fallen out of favour with the coaching staff and being a hometown kid is affecting his game and his passion. He has the tools to be a 20+ goal scorer. He just needs a reset and playing away from his hometown might be the thing he needs to jumpstart him.

And Winnipeg has the cap space to give him the raise he deserves. While I don't disagree that a change of scenery to Virtanen would be best...you simply don't trade a top 10 D man (this year) for a very underperforming player. Again, Pionk has 15 points in 18 games as a defenceman while Virtanen has 1 in 18. I realize it's not all about points but Pionk's play has been astronomically better...I think a different trade partner for Vancouver would be better.

I understand where you're coming from...a package for Risto or Montour might cost a bit more. For arguments sake as well, Stanley HAS played in the NHL this season and has been extremely solid for us.

Sure, but jets will have a good shot at signing Pionk and if they cant, like you said, he's an RFA and they could deal him in the offseason. No point in giving up the jets best D for two guys who'll have to quarantine for 2 weeks...that could cost them their season. Jets should just look to sign Montour or trade for Risto in the offseason

Stanley has finally broken through...and, like you said, he's been solid and should be in the lineup over Beaulieu IMO, but you know PoMO
