Way to much going back the difference between chiariot and ekholm isn’t an A prospect plus 3 picks one being a first !!

Ekholm plays 2nd pairing lhd. Chia tot plays 1st pairing lhd. Even though Ekholm is better it is t that much plus Chiarot is kk I g up against others teams best players most shifts where ekholm sees the second and third lines more. He is better but again it isn’t by very much and nowhere near as much as that overpayment

Ekholm is only on the 2nd pair because Josi is ahead of him. You know the guy who just won the Norris. He is alot better than Chiarot.

The price for Ekholm would probably be something like Brook or Fleury and a 1st. Plus maybe a 2nd depending on who the prospect is. I don’t see us paying that for Ekholm when someone like Chiarot signs here as a UFA and Edmundson’s rights cost us a 5th. I’d go for some like Zadorov instead who I imagine would be way cheaper. He was great in the playoffs last year.

The thing is taht we have no elite LD and Chiarot and Edmundson take too much penality and cost us game and they are not great Defenceman either. The most valuable NHL Ready defenceman the Habs have (And I know you won't agree) is Victor Mete. Because yes Mete is not flashy he's small, he doesn't throw big hit and doesn't put up insane numbers but he does all the little things incredibly well.
