Could this be something Tkachuk

Created by: PeterK
Team: 2020-21 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 25, 2021
Published: Feb. 25, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just imagine the battle of Ontario, Toronto vs Ottawa with the Tkachuk brothers on both teams! Damn that'd be good. I hear he has caused a stir with his teammates in Calgary so why not get Nylander for him. Add a Timothy Liljegren if you need to or a 2nd round pick.
Trades
CGY
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
  2. Nylander, William
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
I think the 2nd rounder OR Liljegren would be fair but those intangibles man. Never know what they are going to cost you.

I too would like the "sweetener" to be future top-4 stud.. stop it.. I would love Tkachuk on Leafs, but I would not be adding that much value to Nylander if Im getting him..

That is what we thought a few years ago. Liljegren won't be a stud. Or rather it is looking less likely. He was passed easily by Rasmus Sandin. He will be an NHLer but Tkachuk is a serious commodity.

Getting different opinions. This is exactly why Liljegren might be added. Tkachuk >> Nylander in terms of value. I love Nylander but he wouldn't be enough to get Tkachuk so you add Liljegren. Toronto has a wave of Dmen prospects coming plus their D core is quite young so they have some time. Liljegren MIGHT be a stud but far from a sure thing. You want the Leafs to win in the playoffs? Then you need to pay up for a guy like Tkachuk. It is easy to see the team lacking since Wayne Simmonds has gone down with injury. They need that kind of presence.

Imagine that top line: Matthews - Marner - Tkachuk. Who could match that line?

Tkachuk wont go from CGY and Leafs are not trading Liljegren.. you wanna be contender? You develop your defense and play players who you develop within your system. CGY aint selling Tkachuk and Leafs shouldnt move Liljegren because he is gonna be a stud. If you dont believe in Liljegren, tell me exactly why he wont be a stud. Im waiting.

Had a great sleep. It just pisses me off that each trade begins and ends with Liljegren being moved which is the most ridiculous bull**** ever since he is on same career path as Rasmus Andersson who is now probably the second best Flames D behind Gio and would be first once Gio finishes his career. Same career path.. yes I do really like Liljegren, because I know what he brings and what he develops into and that something is a top-4 stud and it makes ZERO sense to throw him into a deal as a "throw-in".. thats literally exact opposite of what contenders do. They develop their own talent and use them properly..

Hahaha, ok Mr. angry. How about instead of getting yourself all worked up about lily, actually think about what you might trade for Tkachuk? We have different opinions on Liljegren clearly but luckily I don't get worked up over hypothetical trades.

That is BAD trade for Calgary. Tkachuk and Nylander are almost equals in terms of goals/points but Tkachuk is worth SO MUCH MORE. When Nylander is cold he's just a pretty skater. In 21 games, avg 16:30 TOI/g, he has 7 hits. So he's not forechecking or defending... He's also 3 seasons away from being a UFA. Tkachuk lives in the crease and plays a role in for far more of Calgary's goals than the score sheet reflects. In his 20 games this season he has 66 hits. So he's never NOT noticeable. He'll also be an RFA when his contract ends.
Toronto was never better (in my lifetime) than when they had Gary Roberts. Josh Anderson would've been a great pick up, instead they went after Wayne Simmonds ....6 years too late.

I dont either, its just observation I made.. as for Tkachuk value.. Id definitely do Nylander+, but that plus is not gonna be that huge.. the difference between Tkachuk and Willy is not that huge that you need to include future top-4 D in the trade lol

Exactly why I added "future stud" (according to SammyT_51).

I hope the comments remain conflicted. Means the proposal is close to making both sides unhappy. I think that means fair.

It's not different opinions, I like Liljegren and wouldn't be against trading for him. However Nylander does not start the conversation for Tkachuk so it stops there.

As for that line, it is matched by a lot of lines; Marchand - Bergeron - Pasta, Stamkos - Point - Kucherov, Landeskog - Mackinnon - Rantanen, Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen.

Respectfully disagree. Also, lol at Carolina's line being comparable. Maybe in the future with Aho and Svech and someone else but not with Teravainen. He's great but not elite like the other lines you listed.

What part do you disagree with? Only way Leafs can get Tkachuk is if Matthews is on the table (which obviously isn't going to happen). Marner is nice too but that's just a wash. You can build teams around players like Tkachuk, you can't build teams around players like Nylander

HA. No. The comments are conflicted among Leaf fans. If you had Calgary fans conflicted THEN you could say the trade must be close to fair. But you won't entice any Calgary fans with this offer. They're well aware of how soft their team would be without Tkachuk.

I think that’s a reasonable good trade in a hypothetical conversation but realistically Calgary just wouldn’t move him.
