Well this is a good thing for Joseph because he's 21. Has tons of time to get better. he had 5 points in 13 games. He's gonna be great

Who cares if they play better. What matters is his development

it was way to early.
people bought into the he was physically developed enough. He's not. It started with the 1st WSH series. They parked guys down low on him, than NYI picked it up. Then it went right back to WSH doing it again and it's just evident now. Which is why they try to hide him in the Ozone. I don't want to say he's young, he's not he's 21, by that age you should be adult size, but he's still got time to grow. He needs to add strength. Because guys are going to do that to him till he can prove otherwise.

I think he was doing “You can say great” because he wanted to prove he’s NHL worthy but he’s not that yet He just needs time to develop

By Sully keeping POJ up with Letang, I think it is pretty obvious what the plan is. When Dumo is healthy POJ comes out and Dumo is back in with Letang, the rest stays the same. If Riikola is good to go, then he may get a game or 2 next to Letang, but it's likely only until Dumo is back. The bigger question is, what do they plan to do with Friedman? If Friedman was a LD, I could see Sully potentially trying Riikola on the 4th line again (still could if Dumo is back soon). Matheson would be great as a forward, but the team is too invested in him as the #4D. If Ceci wasn't playing great, than Friedman could work there, but from the last few games it looks like Sully likes his pairings. Friedman has to stay at the NHL level, but unless one of the top 3 RD's gets hurt, he won't be seeing much, if any game time.

I think the eventual goal is someone is getting moved down. Ruhwedel probably.

Of course...Someone has to get moved down at some point.

LD: POJ, Dumo, Petterson, Matheson, Riikola
RD: Letang, Marino, Ceci, Ruh, Weber, Friedman

There are 6 spots, plus 1-2 in the press box, so yeah they could move at least 1-2 down. POJ being moved to WBS is probably the best move because then he can continue getting game action. It would be pointless to keep him in the press box or on the Taxi squad.

well I mean if you look at the list Weber is already down, and I have already assumed POJ is going back down. It's more the Friedman, Ruh. So it's probably Ruh.
I don't know, maybe he took Friedman just to mess with Philly.
I think most likely it's that JR is gone, and the message is clear. Guys they are familiar with aren't getting passes. Chad has had it really comfortable the last few years. He's 30 though, and I think maybe he's made the decision already to move on from him as backup.

That is possibly the case, which is kinda sad for Ruh. He has been consistent as a great #7 D for many years, but I agree that he is likely passed over at this point.
